Comment:
Dr. Szymanski is one of the nicest professors I have had so far. He is extremely helpful and will review any questions you have. He takes time at the beginning of each class to review what you learned the previous day and gives short HW assignments that help with learning the material. He gives 5 exams but drops the lowest one. Great professor!

I avoid taking his classes at all costs. I took his class for Calc 1 and thank goodness I had already taken calc in high school because I would not have passed (and I'm a math major). Taking his modern concepts currently and I struggle to stay focused during class. Teaches from powerpoints for a math class. You also can't understand him very well.

Absolutely the worst professor I've ever had. He rushes through everything and if you attempt to stop him to ask a question yes he will attempt to answer, but he never actually does. He simply beats around the bush until you give up and he can move on. I have an A right now in his class ONLY because I never stop teaching myself through youtube.

He is honestly the best math professor I've had at SRU so far. His accent isn't that hard to understand. He speaks very good English. He takes the time to go over things very slowly and assigns a lot of practice homework that just for completion grade. He is a fair grader and if you have an emergency, he will email you the notes from that lecture.

Bad at explaining himself. But is there to help you if you email him or meet him in his office. Pretty hard to understand as well.

I'm a good student, study for test and do homework but he is ery confusing in lecture, when you ask him to explain something again he does the same thing and isn't clear at all. Don't recommend

I did not take Pre-Calculus in high school, and he expects you to know everything from trig and Pre-Calc in high school. I was lost almost immediately after the second test. I hope I never have to take him again. Definitely a professor for someone else

Nice guy, material isn't very hard, homework are relatively easy, but test are tougher then you expect. Have to study for tests to get an A, if you don't study B or below. Look for other professor first but not a bad back up.

Wonderful teacher and I feel as though I learned a lot from him. His teaching style is by power point, so I used those and the homework's together to learn and come test time I knew all I needed to ace it. However this is a college math course so if you are looking for an easy A without any work go to Community College. (Do all hw, grade booster!)

So confusing and difficult to understand. Basically taught myself calculus. Homework in online and you have to get it right to get points so it takes forever, 3-4 hours every night. Do not take

AWFUL!!! Taught off a powerpoint every day. All homework is online and confusing. Very boring, fell asleep all the time. Has an awfully thick accent. Doesn't make sense (ex. didn't say what a limit or how to use one, told the class the mathematical and most complicated definition he could fathom!).

terrible. can not understand a word that he says because of his strong accent. he dosn't write out the steps to his problems which makes it nearly impossible to follow along with the examples in class. i strongly discourage taking his class.

My easiest class this semester, the homework is much harder than the exams, and it's not even that hard. Averaged 100 on the exams without even trying. Just show up to get the extra credit assignments, do the homework and you'll be fine.

Polish - What else is there to say??? Can get a crack out of jokes and little remarks, plus his PowerPoint always has a little mistake that makes the entire class including him laugh. Made math actually very conceptual and easy to follow...definitely TAKE.

Dr. Szymanski was the best math professor I had while I was at the Rock. I am completely intimidated by math, however he took time to explain it to me both in class and any time I would show up at his office door. I have never had a math professor so helpful. I did not find his accent hard to understand - Listen. I owe a lot to him for his help

I graduated in the CS department and faculty confirmed this as a tough course that is tough to teach. For a 100 level course, the class attendance was halved after a month. Concepts can be tough and certain ones could not be grasped by anyone. Hardest section is Induction during the middle of the term. Btw, Szymanski adjusts a D to allow a 50%.

Polish Guy, Polish Accent. Funny as hell. Teaches from powerpoint, makes a lot of typos, he's fun to make jokes with in class and he'll help you if you don't understand something. it's all logic so don't over think or you will be lost. I never go to class and understand everything we do if i just spend a night or 2 reading the book
