Comment:
Dr. Schauber is easily the best professor I've had. She won't give you you the easy way out and she'll call you out on any BS. But, she is one of the most brilliant, interesting, thought-provoking professors out there. I've taken her for three semesters, and I would attribute my writing/analytical growth to her more than any other professor.

Comment:
Worst professor I've had at Richmond not to mention the most biased. She tries to impose her opinions on her students, which is interesting considering it is a philosophy class and there is no "right" or "wrong" answer. She is a very difficult grader and offers almost no feedback. Dedicated 10+ hours/week and never received higher than a B.

She is a brilliant professor who encourages critical thinking and depth in a landscape that often no longer values it. Dr. Schauber's lectures are engaging, interesting, and ask important and tough questions. Dr. Schauber rewards hard work and engagement, so show up, engage, discuss, and put time into your writing.

She might be a tough professor to please, but she probably is one of the best on campus. Her teaching style is just so creative and simple that one does not need to be a classics enthusiast to love this class. She will make you work, but overall and despite of the haters, SHE IS A GREAT PROFESSOR

She's extremely hard. Makes what should be an intro level class into a higher level Philosophy course. I was just looking for a fun class/was interested in what Philosophy was all about, but found out quickly I was in over my head. If you're like me, don't take this. It requires a lot of extra work and with no prior experience it will be hard.

All philosophy courses are pretty tough, but she makes a strong effort to keep class understandable and interesting. I wouldn't recommend this class to non-majors who want to dust off a gen ed. requirement. However, if you're at all interested in philosophy, this is a good course to take.

Comment:
Schauber treats her students as able-minded learners, so those who need rigid scheduling and copious oversight may not appreciate her method. She expects reasonable attendance and constant, close reading of the texts. Intelligent. Affable unless the class slacks on its work. She will explain concepts in myriad ways to ensure complete understanding.

It is hard to sit through her classes. Her tests seem easy but if you can't remember one random fact that she threw out on one specific day, you'll do poorly.

Dr. Schauber knows what she's talking about- she has well planned lectures and provides examples for all of the concepts. The class was hard, but you learn alot. She is a fair grader, but the material is hard- don't expect an A, but you can get a B. Do the reading if you expect to know what's going on in class.

Class is somewhat interesting, but confusing. Some things aren't always clear, but Professor Schauber seems to be, for the most part, a fair grader.

She seems really tough at first, definitely challenges you in discussion. But she's thoroughly versed in the material, has a great sense of humor, and appreciates questions. Lecture is always a good time, even for abstract and difficult material. The 75 minute class never drags. Not a easy class, but worthwhile. I'd definitely take her again.

very monotone professor who bores you to death in lectures that should be interesting because they are very hot-button issues. on exams/papers, if you don't say verbatim what she says in class, she marks it wrong, so don't try to put anything in your own words!

I have found that my enjoyment of her classes is dependent on the course topic - she is great in Law and Ethics, but Ancient Greek was rough (the class needs more structure to tackle abstract ideas). She's extremely knowledgable, but relatively close-minded to alternative perspectives.

Class is pretty interesting. Not many readings. Not much work. She grades fairly. Not extremely hard but not incredibly easy. You will get the standard grade you usually get in your other classes. If your a B student you will probably get a B in this class, an A student an A in this class.

Her tests are extremely vague and seem really simple to answer however she wants reallly SPECIFIC answers so if you dont write the EXACT definintion you will get a bad grade. Lectures are not always clear

Schauber is a very tough grader. For instance the Class average of the midterm was 57 pts out of 78 (73%). She is helpful and you can always stay after class to ask questions. p.s. you can miss two classes and the work load is easy during the week with low amts of reading.

Comment:
Dr. Schauber is brilliant, but, because she's so smart, it's sometimes hard for her to clearly explain things to the class. If you show an interest in the material and show her you've put some thought into the work, you'll be ok.
