Comment:

Classroom methods are vert unorganized. Hard to ontact or get feedback outside classroom. Not an easy person to talk to about subject matter. Knowledgable on subject matter, but comes off as an excentric who wants to talk of her successes and little instruction takes place. Learned more from another student in class. He should teach this class.

Comment:

The whole class is revolved around planning someone's REAL wedding. Mrs. Annette is great at what she does, but is really rude to students, couple, and vendors. She tells you that you will be able to get your license for wedding planning, but I've contacted her multiple times and have yet to even find out how to receive mine.

This class is NOT an easy A! It is a lot of dedication because you are planning someone's REAL wedding! Only take this class if you are actually interested in a career in event planning or wedding planning. If you have no interest you'll probably be miserable and get a bad grade.

Mrs. Hoover is an amazing woman and is very talented at what she does. She takes pride in her reputation which is reflected by the class, so, this is not an easy class, nor will your job be if you work in the event planning business. She grades fairly, thus, if you put in the effort for the wedding like you would in the real world, you'll get an A.

Mrs. Hoover is very dedicated to her work, but she will constantly tell you that the wedding is a "REAL" wedding. Everything is supposed to be donated, but my group forked out over $200 and we are not getting reimbursed for it. Take it ONLY if you are VERY serious about it. I suggest not to.

Nastiest professor to ever teach at USC. She will rip you to pieces if she screws up which happens all the time. And if you run the event perfectly she WILL give you a horrible grade because you're getting the credit for it. She is a terrible representative of our school and no one will donate to you because they can't stand to deal with her.

I have never been to a more disorganized class. All you do is listen to her talk about knowing celebrities and business ventures she has had that are so beyond ridiculous. She is a complete nutjob, and I have no idea how she still has a teaching position. All you learn in this class is how to ask for free things from local business.

Ms. Hoover was an amazing teacher. Don't take this class if you don't plan on putting in out of class effort. She knows the business of wedding planning better than anyone I know (and my dad did it for 20 years). She has great contacts and you plan a wedding for an alum couple. If you think you want to be a wedding planner, here's how to find out.

I have taken both her festival and wedding classes, in the same semester. She may seem hard to deal with but if you do what you are told when you are told you will have no problems in either class. I was also an intern, LOVE her!She is an amazing woman who really care about all she does! Get to know her and take her class!

This is the worst class I have ever taken. I wish I could ask for a refund. The class is so disorganized and has no structure whatsoever. She is a nut job and seriously unhinged. I spent the entire semester getting yelled at for arbitrary reasons and asking small Columbia businesses for free stuff. SUCH A WASTE OF TIME. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

I was so excited to take this class, & now I really regret it. The wedding is Sunday & the class could not be in a bigger mess. If you enjoy getting yelled at & feeling terrible after each class, then by all means take it. Hoover is NOT fun to work with & you will not learn anything in this class. Re-think before you schedule this class, honestly!!

The first day of class began with "It sounds like I'm yelling at you, but I'm not" and it never changed all semester. Wedding planning should be an interesting fun class. I feel like I learned nothing, except how to beg Columbia for service. All work done outside the class. Not hard, just not useful or fun.

Wedding planning should be a great class but I honestly feel like we go to class each day just to hear Annette scream at us. It's definitely not a hard class but she likes to use us to work her personal events (slave labor). I really took this class to learn more about event planning but I don't feel like we've done anything in class.

Her classes are an easy A as long as you do what your group needs and follow the guidelines for the paper and presentation. She becomes annoyed easily if you cannot come to a class decision but she does not really check up on individual groups. It isa good amount of begging the Columbia community, though.

I took her festival class and I am currently in her wedding planning class. She is well known in the community and has tons of contacts. She knows this industry and is willing to help in any way. She can never be on time though. Sometimes we wait outside class waiting on her. It is an easy class as long as you do your part.

Incredible professor, really wants her students to succeed. She knows everyone on the planet so if you need a job, internship, part time work or and interview, she can help. She's really intimidating but she just expects a lot from her students. I highly recommend her for event planning students.

Annette comes off very intimidating and mean, but in the end she is a wonderful person, who really cares about event planning. We planned an event and raised over $40,000. Although she is very intimidating, and much like a drill sergeant, everything came together for the event. Also an easy A if you go to class, and let her know who you are.
