Comment:
Brandon is an absolute delight, and it's clear that he cares deeply about his students. He is a real advocate for solving sociological problems rather than simply learning about them, and encourages us to think critically. No quizzes, but you will be taking a lot of notes and doing numerous projects.

Hes very vague when it comes to directions in class, assignments, and grades. He is not completely fair when it comes to group activities unless ALL members show participation. If all members dont, each person is penalized EVEN if you did your part. His directions arent adequate.

Mr Everest is very unclear about what we need to do in class, gives very vague directions and then grades us hard, never responds to emails, and asks too much of students. Very boring class that I did not learn anything from.

Im in my second year and Brandon has been my favorite professor so far! He cares about his students and their grades- only if the student cares about their grade as well. He is very readily available & so personable. He makes class very enjoyable. The ending paper is huge & all his extra credit he gives makes up for it if you did poorly.

I took the online class, which I do not recommend. Though the class is fairly easy, he assigns one big paper that is a large percentage of your grade, a paper which he I don't think he explains too well. He didn't respond back to any of my clarifying emails about the paper, and only gave feedback when it had been graded. One extra credit saved me.

Brandon is probably one of the funniest professors I've had at NMC. He tends to talk a lot but intermittently does group discussion to keep you awake, and he finds ways to make material interesting. Pretty laid back too

I really liked Brandon Everest. This was my first semester at NMC and I thought he was a very fair teacher. A lot of people didnt show up to class after the first week but thats their own fault. The quizzes and tests are online but you get a lot of good info in the lecture as well. He was very caring and open, and was willing to hear others out.

Brandon cares about teaching students the value of sociological issues, not just whether they memorize information from a textbook and can pass the class. Open, caring, and accessible with students.

In-depth lectures, but book material is to be read on your time. Unlimited attempts on online open-book quizzes; no exam; community volunteer project and paper. Show up, listen, think, follow the schedule for quizzes/assignments, and you'll have your A with no surprises. Plus you'll learn and leave the class a better citizen and, maybe, person.

All test are on the internet...out of your book and he words the questions in his own words so good luck finding the answers. Final exam and all exams are 40-50 questions and they are from 5-6 chapters again in his wording which makes them retard-idly hard! Oh and you take 6 exams. I would not wish this teacher on my worst enemy .

I liked this class for the most part. He does definitely have a political slant, but the material was interesting and he presented it well. Quizzes are pretty hard, but you can take them as many times as you want to study fro the exam. Good prof, I would recommend.

He seems like he knows a lot about his subject, but doesn't communicate lessons very well. It was hard to understand what he was teaching. We were all left confused. He is kind of monotone and lectures a lot. Wouldn't suggest taking this your first semester, tough class and he assigns a big paper.

HeĆ¢€™s cool and energetic and seems excited to teach. The quizzes are all over the place. He posts PowerPoint notes over the chapter. Problem is half the time the questions are from a previous chapter and or a question that would be foundd among the fine print. He does not review any of the quizzes so you have no idea what you did wrong or right.
