I have taken Dr. Jones for FREN 3010, and now 3020. Her lectures are very interesting and engaging. It is essential that you go to class and participate in discussion (just try your best) and you will do fine. Syllabus and expectations are very clear.

Comment:

Dr. Jones is a wonderful professor. She is transparent about her expectations and does not grade too harshly. She rewards good effort and truly wants you to learn. You are graded on 4 essays, 3 out of 4 quizzes, an individual presentation, and a final. Participation counts for 25% of your grade, so keep that in mind! Otherwise, it was a breeze.

Madame Jones is very clear from the start about her expectations and she follows the syllabus to the letter! Her classes are perfectly organized and she prompts each student to participate equally. She is a hard grader, but assigns manageable work and will make sure you learn.

Dr. Jones is very nice, reasonable, and a great teacher. The optional homework due every class (clearly outlined in the syllabus) is helpful and not too hard or long. Class is mainly discussion and participation based, but it's easy to get those points. There are lots of compositions, but all the cultural topics are very relevant and interesting

Dr. Jones expects a lot from her students in regards to class preparation, participation, and paperstests. If your effort is obvious to her, you'll be rewarded. Speaking AT LEAST once per class is MANDATORY, as is the homework and reading. Really challenging, but I learned so much and would most definitely take another one of her classes.

Dr. Jones is my favorite French professor! She made me love Moyen Age literature and she was just overall friendly, helpful, and interesting. She takes a subject that can be difficult and makes it worthwhile. As long as you prepare for class, (especially the reading!) then you should do fine. She is a fair grader.

Comment:

One of the better French teachers at UGA. Subject is not easy but she is such a good teacher that what could be hard ends up being perfectly fair and makes it very possible to make an A. Hoewever you have to do all the work, and read a ton to keep up, but in all honesty it's a major class and thats what you should expect. TRES BON PROF!!!

As you can see I took Dr. Jones for two classes, both of which I loved. She's quite possibly one of the BEST French professors at the University. She's very helpful and makes class enjoyable. She even got my interested in Moyen Age literature which made my visit to the Musee de Cluny all that more enjoyable! LOVE HER!

This could have been a tedious class, but Dr. Jones is charismatic, extremely intelligent, and well-organized. To take full advantage of the class and her lessons, you need to make yourself do the daily homework because she doesn't collect them (and so of course I slacked off at first). She is a rigorous grader, but she is an excellent explainer.
