Professor Neupert is a fantastic professor for someone just coming into a film major, or simply if they have a love for film in general! He's so enthusiastic about what he's teaching. You'll do well in the class if you're enthusiastic too. Don't slack off on the readings; almost all quizzes and exams themselves require specific text knowledge.

Dr. Neupert grades on a word-for-word type basis. Don't go off book or try to get creative, you will fail. Everything is about "eroticism" for him. He IS really knowledgeable about film and i learned a lot, but his grading system takes a lot out of it for me.

Great class and great teacher. Took M/W/F with Lecture in the morning M/W and Movie/Discussion in the afternoon W/F. Show up and do most of the reading and you'll be fine. Respect him and he'll respect you, aka show up to class. There are pop quizzes over combining lecture with the film, but he'll usually announce them in class.

Dr. Neupert is a really charismatic guy who truly knows his stuff. His passion for film is evident and this makes his lectures really easy to understand. Everything he does makes the class entertaining. His grading consists of pop quizzes, a midterm, a paper, and the final so doing well on all is important. Would highly recommend anyways!

History of animation is probably my favorite class Ive ever taken. Exams and the one paper arent easy, but hes a great lecturer, and that makes taking him worth it. You have to take great notes. Do not miss a day, unless you can get solid notes from someone else. He doesnt post PowerPoints online to prevent people from skipping

Professor Neupert is a great professor! He is really passionate about film. His lectures are easy to follow, but make sure you read the textbook, because some of the exam questions come from them. For FILM 2120, we had lectures MW, screenings also on W, and discussions on F with TAs. I often skipped the screenings and watched the films at home.

Loved this class even though I got a B. Neupert is funny in a weird way and knows what he is talking about. You get to watch movies once a week and then he also includes movie clips in his lectures. You nees to read the textbook as well as the other articles he puts on elc! There are going to be about 7 random pop quizzes but ec sometimes as well.

Neupert's class is lecture heavy, and he doesn't post his powerpoints online. I didn't read the textbook for the midterm and didn't do well, and I did read it for the final and got an A. Overall, he's very enthusiastic about film, and he intersperses clips in slides so it's not completely boring.

Professor Neupert may come across as pretentious at first, but he really isn't. He's opinionated, but knows what he is talking about and is respectful of his students' preferences. This class is not an easy A though. You have to read if you want to do well on anything. A majority of test info is straight out of the book! Highly recommend it though.

Dr. Neupert is a well-respected man on campus and definitely knows his stuff. His lectures are very engaging and fun, but don't be fooled, This isn't a throwaway class. Read the readings, and be ready for quizzes. TA's grade all papers, tests, and quizzes. Challenging, yet great class.

Lectures are so much fun. Talks about different aspects of film and then shows clips of them. Could sit through this class for hours. His tests are not too hard, but his quizzes can be tricky. Just skim the book, come to class, and watch the movies and you'll be fine. Such a fun class and I would definitely recommend it. Learned so much too!

His lectures are a ton of fun and he has a clear passion for film that he wants you to share. Although his class is lecture-heavy, he makes sure to split up the monotony with interesting videos. Be wary, however, if you just like watching the latest Marvel movies and whatnot, you probably will not enjoy his class. For critics and art-lovers.

At first I was kinda disappointed because I thought this class would be boring (I originally wanted 4260). However, Dr. Neupert is very thorough and made the class super interesting. His lectures are helpful but he doesn't put the notes online so you really have to be in class. Can be a tough essay grader but is genuinely helpful and nice.

Yes, Neupert's intro class will be very hard if you're expecting an easy A. You spend a lot of time in class and there aren't many grades, but he does offer extra credit and the lectures are interesting. I loved it because I'm passionate about film and Neupert is super knowledgeable about it. I learned a lot (got a B) and added a film minor!

I thought FILM2120 would be an easy A as my fine arts credit. This class was so much work from start to end, even for those passionate about film. It is a 3 hour credit but you will spend 5 hours a week in class (lectures, TA sessions, and film viewings). He assigns reading for every class and the quizzes cover obscure details from 1 sentence.

It's obvious that Dr. Neupert knows and loves film, but his lectures are hard to follow. He uses a PowerPoint (not posted online) but while you're taking those notes, you're missing a lot of info from his tangents. He gives lots of quizzes, but never posts ANY grades online. My learning styles DID NOT work well with his teaching styles.

Great class for anyone who likes movies. You learn a lot and watch some great films and he seems to know everything there is to know. You don't need to read very much but if you don't you definitely need to pay attention to lecture. Lots of writing on the tests and missing one short answer could cost you a letter grade.

Comment:
Dr. Neupert is very intelligent and passionate on the subject. The class is very interesting, even if you know nothing about film. However, the amount of information tested over is way too broad and the tests are mostly writing, so if you do not say exactly what your TA expects, you won't do well. The TAs are harsh graders and not flexible.
