Comment:

Don't get me wrong, he's a very nice man. But unfortunately, he has major health issues that make him miss a lot of class. He doesn't use D2L at all; there is no content on there and he doesn't email. You don't find out that he will be out of class until you're already on campus. The information he gives you in class differs from the tests.

avoid the frustration; this guy is losing grips with reality + his memory. He tells one class one thing and another class something different. 90% unrelated ego fueled stories, 10% obscure outdated astronomy trivia. he puts things on the test that he's never taught you. He randomly decides to have labs on days they aren't scheduled for. AVOID!

This professor gives a lot of information but tends to get off track about what he's teaching. It gets very confusing and then after studying the notes and answers to the test he gives you, he calls your answers "weak" and grades the test deeply. His lab manual was not available in the book store, how am I supposed to do a majorly graded lab?

This man gets off track a lot. He tells lots of stories about, well everything. He does it though to help you relate the info to every day life. He is not tech savy at all. So don't expect emails to be returned. He give you all the questions and answers to the test. Get the notes, memorize, get an A. Easy as that! He does not use a textbook at all.

He was ok. Not what I expected the class to be at all. He's very unclear on test dates and material. Never responds to any of my emails which is really annoying. He forgets what he's taught at main campus and Palmer so this class is very unorganized. He is a hazard to your grade. Nice man but I think it's about time to retire for him.

Great, informative class. Thompson overall incorporates how Astronomy is relevant to everyday life. It's not only nice to learn about the subject, but it is helpful to be instructed by someone who has real life hands on experience with the material. Thompson, hope to see you next semester in 102!

This guy made astronomy my new favorite subject! He is very funny and teaches the class very well. There where a few times when he forgot to teach us something and it showed up on the test, but no sweat, he just gave us the answer. You will have to study for this class!! But the material isn't to hard to remember. We didn't need the book at all.

I LOVE Mr. Thompson! The man is obviously incredibly smart, but manages to teach his subject at a level that we can understand. He is great about showing us how astronomy relates to the real world, and uses examples to help us remember. To anyone who has said he uses "off color" remarks: You are ridiculous. This is a college level class. Grow up.

Schrodinger's Cat, Quantum Chromodynamics, Wave-particle dality. Need I say more. I'm an AA student. This guy opened up the nerd world for me. Just wish i had found him before i got locked into AA. Even if you don't like science you'll probably like his course. Show up and study and it's an A.

Hey look, the guy was with NASA during Apollo! He was in the Army doing orbital stuff. When he talks about space things he isn't using a book. He was there! The course is easy and yet hard. Show up to class! Listen! Study! He makes astronmy fun For me: 60 on the first test then 100s the rest of the way. Easy A if you work.

Charlie is the bomb, and you can catch him on the radio sometimes on Saturday, although there's lots of commercials to pay the bills he squeezes in a lot. Great teacher, VERY passionate about teaching, he is the teacher you wanted for every class you ever had

Mr. Thompson is so great. I am taking him for Astronomy 101 and I will definitely make an A. I had no interest in Astronomy prior to taking this class; he now has me interested in the subject and wanting to know more. Class is enjoyable, and as long as you attend and take good notes you should do just great!

Yes, he does make some off color comments. But when it comes down to it, he's just trying to make the class fun and interesting for everyone involved. Overall, he is a great teacher. If you write down all of his notes, and put an hour or two into studying before every test, theres no reason you cant walk out of the class with an easy A.

Great instructor. I've had him for two semesters of astronomy (solar and stellar). His classes are fairly easy if you have a good memory. The labs are somewhat difficult to understand, but he gives you everything you need to get an A. He's funny, great to talk to, and does a pretty good job making tough concepts easier to grasp. I highly recommend.
