Comment:
Dr. Fedo is an amazing prof and really knows his stuff. He is a hard prof and you have to work for a good grade, but if you show up to class he will tell you exactly what to study and know for the test/assignments. If you don't go to class you probably won't enjoy it. I almost switched majors so I could take more of his classes.

Comment:
Do not take Chris's class. He is passionate about Geology, but his teaching style does not make it easy to understand the material. He is also very indecisive and does not effectively communicate crucial information about assignments/grading to his students, and he does not return graded assignments in a timely manner.

Comment:
Chris loves geology and kept the lectures interesting. He does post the slides online, but he adds at least twice as much information during the lecture on top of whats already on the slides. Tests are pretty hard and make up 60 of your grade, so Id recommend being in class consistently. I would take a class with him again.

Comment:
Fedo is a guy that is obviously knowledgeable of geology. With that being said this is easily the worst and most difficult class I have ever taken while at UT. His lectures are long and you never know what is going to be on the test. If you don't have a great understanding of geology before this, do not take his class. I would say class avg is a D

Chris is hard but a cool guy. The only grades are tests and the test questions are very in depth... he is very passionate about the topics but makes it is very difficult for no reason just because he thinks everyone should love the class.

You can tell he's very into the material, and his tests reflect (albeit very specifically) the things he highlights as important. Go to the lectures and make special notes of things that are highlighted or repeated. These will be on the exams!

Chris didn't really explain the tests well at all. You could tell he was very passionate about the material, but isn't a very good teacher. Gives horrible study guides.

Good guy, super passionate about national parks and geology. His energy kept it interesting. You'll probably be bored if you haven't taken a geology class prior to this. I made the high grade on every test, I never looked at the book. Study his powerpoint slides GOOD and you will do fine. Also, he slams you with a huge writing assignment, be aware

Obviously passionate about what he does, which is good for a teacher in my opinion. Super nice guy, always willing to take time to answer questions in and out of class. Not the most interesting material, but made it semi interesting by showing tons of pictures.

He is a great teacher and has a passion for what he is teaching, which is easy to notice. Genuinely cares about how his students are doing. I found the class itself somewhat hard - some of the things he said did not match up to what the book said, which made it confusing when studying. Do not miss a lecture because he does not put notes online.

Although lectures can be tedious at times, Dr.Fedo genuinely loves teaching and seems to care about his students. He came into lab once just to see if anyone had any questions, something he had no obligation to do. Maybe not the most interesting course, but Fedo is a good guy and if you go to class you'll be fine.

I thought he was awesome, and not hard to pick out the important parts of his lectures if you pay attention. Definitely knows his stuff. If you go to class, take decent notes, you can do a little cramming and ace the tests without once looking at your book. His tests are really pretty simple. I liked his class so much I'm picking up a Geo minor

Notes are very unorganized, if you take this class, it's important to take more notes than just what he writes on the board. Lecture attendance isn't mandatory but important if you want good grades on the exams (there are only 3). He's really passionate about what he teaches, and it shows. I'd give this class a 6/10.

his notes are terrible and make no sense. His tests are hard and don't correlate with the notes. I suggest that no one takes this class. It is beyond boring.

Professor Fedo is a really good teacher. He does have a "cell phone jail" box which I thought was unnecessary; his notes are very unclear and scattered. Other then that he is very enthuastic about his material and knows a ton about Geology.

DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS. first off don't take geology unless your planning to major in it. The class is very boring and long. notes are impossible to keep up with(he writes 2 things on the board). Test are really hard. I regret taking this class.

Amen to the comment below me! He is a really great professor, but his notes are hard to keep up with and they are the key to doing well on exams! He gives good study guides and extra credit. Just make sure to attend lecture! Labs aren't too bad either!

He makes Geology interesting, but isn't organized during lectures. Gives a lot of interesting fun facts, and tests are directly from the notes, but he makes taking notes difficult. Recommended, but know that it won't be as easy as expected.
