Lectures are rambling and pointless; only reads textbook headlines. Tests consist of definitions from the textbook she never taught in class. She is hard to understand and never states when things are due. Presentations and assignments are easy to do. Honestly the worst professor I have ever had. A Communications Professor who can't communicate.

Ms. Deaton's lectures are rambling and incoherent. The tests and assignments have nothing to do with her lectures. She tends to be unorganized and complains about random things a lot. The class isn't very hard. It's an easy A, but be wary if you're looking for a serious communications class--this isn't one.

This class isn't really hard. You have little homework assignments every once in a while. You can do these in like five minutes or so. The two speeches are really easy. Dolly is really friendly and always willing to help. She's a little out of the ordinary but she's really a great person and very charitable. Loved CMS 100!

Dear lord in heaven. I have two words for you guys-- STAY AWAY! Her tests are difficult and her wild tangents make lectures meaningless. When she's "serious", she's only reading headlines and definitions in the book...and that isn't helpful at all.

Avoid Dolly Deaton! Her lectures have nothing to with the test, all she does is talk about her family and ramble on about things that have nothing to with the material. She just reads definitions from the textbooks. You have to read the book to pass the exams, her lectures will not help you.

Warning, she used to be a good teacher but she has given up. Comments before 2011 do not apply. Grouchy, annoying, opinionated. Uses favoritism. Canceled class on exam day w/o warning. Exam was literally INCOMPREHENSIBLE, misspelled words, MC answers not even on test. Many students complained. Don't waste your money and time on her!

Whoa- take a different professor. She teaches nothing but assigns six chapters per exam! You have to study like crazy to pass. Also, she does not email when she cancels class. If your lucky, there might be a note on the door. So, do not take her if you commute!

Do not take this class with Deaton as a teacher. You may as well take it online bc the only way to pass the tests is to study your textbook outside of class. She doesn't lecture, only rambles and reads the class the headings in the book. Complete waste of time.

Seems batty at times. Easy class,only 2 speeches, lots of busy work. Reading the book is highly recommended for the tests, her lectures are quick and rambling most of the time. Very nice, very helpful most of the time. I had no problems with her. She expects students to put forth effort and be responsible for themselves. Act like adults!!

heartless. wont take latework at all even if youd turn it in right afterclass.Rambles rather than lectures. you must read book to pass tests. doesnt use blackboard AT ALL. better hope youre perfect like her and not lose any of the syllabus because she cant email you another copy. doesnt read emails doesnt sympathize with human error

I love this lady she is top notch! There is no class on Friday for field research, which you do on you own then write one page.She gives great reviews and fair test! If you don't like this lady you didn't go to class of do your work and ended up with what you deserved,an F.I can't any other reason why anyone would'nt like her.She even does charity!
