prof does seems to be disorganized at times but overall if you actually actively study and NOT just memorize for the sake of passing the test then you will do fine. Read the manual,understand what u've done and learned. He encourages you to ask questions. Quizzes are not tricky if u understand each lab.

Do not take this class. I was a 4.0 student for 2 years before this class. I studied over 5 hours a day for this class making it my main goal but still wasnt enough he test are so tricky, dont even bother to ask himquestions bc he will be littled you and you will fail

He takes attendance in every class. I had him for API and in simple words he knows his material very well but he can't break it down to college lever. His exams are VERY VERY tough.. and only one girl got a B in the entire class so you can already tell how his grading and exam is. Please take someone else if you want to pass AP.

Avoid! While "nice" and knowledgeable, he has a temper and doesn't like to be challenged about his hard exams or quizzes. He gets off target and speeds through to "catch up" Avoid if first time A & P students. You will take a lot of notes (8-10 pages/day). He has no lesson plan and has skipped important material only to go back and "Fill it in"

Dr Cotty is a wonderful person. He's extremely nice and funny. He's very knowledgeable and always happy to help. He's not an easy professor by all means. i agree with the comment from 7/2. i happen to be a good student (straight A's, a few B's) & i think he moves WAY too fast, i got a C+ in the class (i never got such a low grade before) test q's are from notes (some of them he forgets to mention- making the test impossible). IMPOSSIBLE! i wouldnt wish this on my worst enemy. he is also demeaning!!

Althogh materials can get pretty tough, attend all the classes, take notes and study! Don't expect high grade without first trying to study. He's very helpful professor and will always answer your qeustion. I took him for an year and leaned a lot!

One of the worst Prof I ever took. Have him for AP1, all you do in his class is take notes, i mean alot of notes. does not even give you enough time to copy notes. jumps around from one topic to another. While he is writing on board, he will be covering it..when you do get a chance to take his notes down, he's teaching something else.

it's a shame how some student do not realize how great professor Dr.Cotty is. I never met anyone who's ready to help student like he did. If you can't understand something, take some time to ask him. He will respond to your emails, questions and will help you always. He gives you notes, so review it for the exams. and don't forget to study!

I disagree with some bad comments in here. He is NOT boring nor hard. You should get that clear. Biology is HARD, not the professor. He's always ready to help his students, encourages your participation and makes it so clear to understand! I took his course for a full year and thought he was the best. The only thing is, YOU should be ready to learn

He's the BEST professor for students who are ready to learn, ready to study. Do not expect to get a high grade when you don't study for the exams. After all, it's the BIO class. The contents are hard but he makes it very easy to understand for you. He gives you as many helps as you need and will always respond to your questions! He's the best!!
