I took Vinnie for Jazz Theory 1-2, Piano III, Arranging, Improvisation for Every Musician, and his Recording class. He has a serious focus on understanding the mechanics of everything but has an incredible wealth of knowledge. If you're serious about your musicianship, he'll open a lifetime of possibility to you.

If someone is serious about learning music he can change a life. If you really want to understand something you will get it step by step from many points of few. Had him for jazz theory 1. He goes on so many tangents during class and keeps making references to pizza and "It's a dessert topping. It's a floor wax. It's both!" which is confusing. However, he's very helpful if you go to his office hours and will take the time to teach you what you're not getting.

jazz theory 1- vinnie is one of the most competent professors i've had in college. he knows the material hes teaching like the back of his hand. his classes aren't easy and you have to work for your grade. Hes engaging and entertaining, one of my favorite classes!

Vinnie has a lot to say and knows way too much to be teaching one subject matter. He gets off topic and tends to reteach concepts that he covers in other classes. His arms live in the chalk tray; in that regard he is more like a math teacher. Don't miss class, you never know what he'll discuss or assign.

Jazz is amazing to learn about on its own, but when taught by vinnie martucci it's super wicked awesome amazing!! he loves music soooo much and will make you as well. he has funny stories and is an all around awesome guy. if you have the chance, take a class with him! you will be happy you did!!

Vinnie is the man!! his music history classes are really exciting! he is a funny guy with an awkward sense of humor. you will have to write a a few lines of lyrics in a 12-bar blues format (which is easy), 2 essays, which are easy, and 2 exams. you will have to read, but will most likely enjoy it, 2 exams. and that's it. lectures are fun! TAKE HIM!

vinny challenged the hell out of me. i transferred out of new paltz and into a different music program elsewhere and was more advanced in theory than anyone in my program. he's very into diagrams. he literally hand-wrote the jazz theory textbook. amazing person. full of energy.
