great professor! you can tell hes passionate about music. only hw is a report, which is SUPER easy. you also have to outline the chapters of the book, its part of the test grade and due the day of the test. he has an attitude, but is not mean at all. definitely enjoyed the class. take him if you love music.

If you love rock music as much as I do you will love this class! He is very straightforward and to the point on what he expects out of his students for classwork and such. His class is basic lectures/videos and you have to turn in chapter summaries before each test. At the end of the semester we all did presentations on a band of choice. Total fun!

Beyer's class is straightforward. It would be really hard to not get at least a B in his class. Although it is easy, his class is not very enjoyable. He teaches by showing the class an endless amount of videos. When he does lecture, he mostly reads from the book. Anyway, if you're looking for an easy A, then Beyer's class is that class.

He is a Great Teacher. I got an A+ in this class and it was all thanks to him. He teaches crystal clear and makes perfect sense. He can pick on people a little bit, but other than that he is great!. If you're thinking about taking Music Theory DO IT! because...you will learn a lot. Just Pay Full Attention and see him after class if you need help.

can be a bit of a bore occasionally but easy. hw=2 pg chptr synopses. tests can be a little difficult if you didnt study. he is repetitive which is useful, but it is also annoying if its something unimportant. 10 pts of easy extra cred. be in class everyday for easy points, but don't text. overall: easy, but really boring if youre not interested.

history of rock music. that sounds like it should be fun right? Wrong!!! all his tests are essays. if you are good at memorizing loads of information after reading the book then youre set. lucky for me i was. the other rock music teachers have multiple choice tests. take one of them.

I do not recommend the history of rock music class. He makes it seem like it should be an relatively easy class, but then grades too harshly on the tests and presentations. He doesn't follow his own rubric when grading and judges based on a "overall sense" he gets from your work. Very inconsiderate when you try to talk about grades with him

If you want a teacher who doesn't really have any in depth knowledge of the history of rock, other than what's in the textbook. Take him. He has no real teaching technique other than to show videos every single class, while periodically interrupting them to say exactly what the video's going to say. Probably one of the worst teachers I've ever had.

Great Teacher! Great Class! If you are a mature student wanting to learn music fundamentals, you'll do great. You have to show up to every class though. Trust me, you will be lost if you miss his lectures. Very limited homework; you just have to be there.

this dude is like sandy cohen's dad or something. and he gives the same sandy cohen-esque lectures about life sometimes. his a tough little drill sergeant, so if you want an easy class dont take it! i survived with a B, but it wasnt a free ride. Too much music considering its for NON music majors!
