He's a gem! Chaplin make Brit Lit. interesting and enjoyable. He's v understanding and knows what he's teaching. Tries to encourage class participation but it's not mandatory. All we do is reading, discussions, and write essays. The textbook is pricey but you can try to find PDFs online of the stories. You can use your textbook on the midterm/final

Took an online English Lit Themes: Ghost Stories course for university credit. The selection of material was very interesting. Weekly written DB posts required from the weekly reading assignment and 3 4- pg essays. Does take a long time to grade and receive feedback, otherwise, clear with his expectations. Freedom with own ideas in writing.

Easy online class English Lit class/ Horror. Read short stories w/weekly discussion posts. 2 papers, he gave us examples on what to write, which was generous. Seems like a great professor, but wish he sent out a video or audio lecture to learn more about the topic. Would have loved more interaction. Great subject though!

Dr. Chaplin is by far one of my favorite professors I have ever had at BSU. I took his Literary Types class online, and although there was a lot of reading, it was challeging at times, but a well worth it class. I got an A, and worked hard for it. His grading is not too tough, but what it should be for an English prof. Hes awesome!

His lectures are really interesting and more about what the students think over what he thinks. Pay attention to the syllabus because he doesn't. He allows revisions for most essays. He's usually late for class, and takes FOREVER to give essays back but feels really bad about it. Overall, a cool guy and great professor.

I learned a lot in his class and i never felt stressed to do the homework. It's important to speak up in his British Literature class, and he's never mean if you're wrong about a theory. I would take any class that he's teaching because he's so nice and clearly wants his students to do well.

Chaplin's class is primarily discussion based. He gives virtually no lectures and is very unorganized. He is hard to contact outside of the classroom, fails to respond to emails , and does not make himself available. He will also not bring up assignments again after it is first assigned.

If you keep up with the reading, his discussions are actually very interesting! I loved Chaplin and wish I could take more classes with him. Essays and Exams, which are 2 essays that total 5 pages (2.5 pages each), are all pretty easy and as long as you go to class, you'll know exactly what to write about.

I took his class to get an easy A and now I'm worried I'm going to get a C. He's a hard grader and he rarely answers emails. I took his class online and did most of the readings. Some of them were way too long. If you're trying to protect his GPA don't take his class its not worth it.

Professor Chaplin is great! The only annoying thing about him is that he took FOREVER to grade my first essay but other than that you sit in a circle in class and discuss the readings so in detail that you don't even really have to read (which is a plus). He is respectable and kind and always approachable if you have questions. Take him!!

If you're a student that wants an A avoid professor. If you're one that just wants to get by, go for it. Takes forever to grade, never replies to emails. Tough grader, it seems hard to please him and it's frustrating not knowing what he expects and will not take a class with this professor again.

Really boring. All he does all class is lecture. When you write your paper be ready to get it back two years later... Can revise both papers. Midterm and Final are take home. Easy just a pain in the ass class to attend.

He is a very laid back professor. Most of the classes are just him lecturing with some class feedback. He doesnt assign written homework so you can get away with not reading the assignments if you pay attention in class. You're graded on a few essays and the midterm/final. He lets you redo your essays if you don't like your grade which is awesome.

Great guy! I've taken two classes with him already and wish I could take another with him in the Fall. He can go off on a bit of a tangent or be unsure of where he's going with what he says sometimes but he's very helpful, relatable, and a fair grader. Ultimately, I would recommend him and hope to take more classes with him in the future.

He is pretty laid-back and is able to bond with students. He relented and gave us a take-home final when we pestered him about it. He's funny and his lectures are insightful. Takes ages to get papers back. He is also a fairly easy grader. I'd definitely recommend him.

I love this man. I am currently taking 2 classes with him, shakespeare and brit lit. He is brilliant and so funny. I actually tried to take more classes with him for the fall. I hate school, BUT I never missed one of his classes, they help with the papers- which are fairly easy. TAKE HIM! :)

Awesome teacher! Very intelligent. Required four 5-page papers, which were all very simple if you paid attention in class. Take notes on what he says. Taking him again this semester& very excited!
