Great course (phil of mind). He doesn't make you buy a text because all the articles in the text he used to use are online. He's very smart and approachable and yes, hot.

I took at least 4 classes with Dr. Janzen. He is one of the main reasons I decided to get a philosophy minor. Dr. Janzen is always willing to spend time answering questions and having discussions. His lectures point out the important parts of the readings and basically give you the answers for the midterm/paper questions.

He marks leniently on the midterm. But he's a tougher marker on essays and final... You really do have to be consistent with his views or else he won't give you a good mark; unfair in that way.

Janzen is one of the best professors at the U of C (and he is smokin' hot). Super clear, remarkably intelligent, and really friendly towards students. The exams are fair -- go to class, though. Look for the articles online before buying the textbook. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

his requirements are reasonable. i liked attending lectures because he goes over things well (that you will only need the textbook to actually write your paper).. going to lecture is also fun because he's ridiculously attractive.

Ratings are very deceiving. He is a good prof, however a hard markers, that is if you go against anything he said in class. Have strong examples that agree with his views for the essays, and you'll do great. Overall an ok class, but definitely a mark you have to work hard for!

He's not just a fair marker - he's downright generous to give out Bs even if you didn't answer the question. As are harder to come by, but after the midterm, you learn what he's looking for so the course is much easier after that.

Great class. Seems to genuinely care if his students do well. He gives a revise and resubmit option for essays that are poorly done or at least he did for the class I took.

Yes, he's an engaging lecturer and he's good looking but he's unhelpful over emails and is a really hard marker. I usually get As but he gave me B- on all my assignments without many helpful comments, just a cross. Even if you reiterate the lecture material in your assignments, he comments that it's a basic understanding. Ratings are deceiving.

Phenomenal prof. One of the best profs I've ever had at the U of C. Interesting, engaging, articulate lecturer. What's great about him is he's a really, really smart guy BUT he doesn't expect you to be a phenom at philosophy and marks very fairly.Gives you exam questions before the test date so you can prepare your answers.Don't skip lectures tho!

He knew A LOT about what he was teaching in this course. It was a philosophy of religion course so your faith might be tested.

Greg is incredibly hot, and it is admittedly distracting from time to time. The fact that he is also super smart just makes him that much sexier. Ahem... anyway, objectively speaking, he is a great lecturer. He often engages students in meaningful discussion & is effective at making the sometimes convoluted material much clearer. Great prof!

If you're going to take a philosophy course, I would highly recommend taking one with Greg. His genuine interest in the material comes across in his teaching method, and his lectures are always thought provoking. Attendance and note taking are important, but it's ok because he's smokin' hot...oops, uhhh I mean...because he's a fair marker.

When Greg walked into the class I thought "this won't be so bad!" However, the class does require review and reflection on your own, especially since he's quite handsome, so it's a bit distracting ;). Besides the obvious, his classes are well planned, informative and make good use of my time. He's quite brilliant and I respect his opinions.

Great Prof. When i first took his class i didnt know what to expect from philosophy, after taking two of his classes i have decided to declare philosophy as a major - he is inspiring and an excellent teacher. Make sure you do the readings and attend all the lectures, he is a fair marker, not overly easy or hard.
