Comment:

Oh man this class is easy. You don't have to show up, just study the stuff on canvas before the test and boom, you've got an A+. Dr. Glotfelty is sweet guy, but the lectures can be extremely boring if you're not an astronomy fanatic. But, he always lets out 15 mins early. Despite what he says, DON't buy the textbook!! You don't need it!

Comment:

Astronomy was a very fun class! Very simple class for anyone needing science credit. This class had four tests (the lowest one was dropped), a make up test, a final, and labs. Make sure you go to the labs! They are 25% of your grade, and if you do them all you get extra credit. Do the labs and study and it is an easy A.

Comment:

Dr. G is an awesome professor for astronomy. He does a powerpoint every single day for class and you only have a couple of tests and lab once a week. Perfect class to take for non-science majors. Attendance is not mandatory and it is easy to keep up if you do miss. I would recommend Dr. G any day! truly passionate about what he teaches!

Comment:

This is a great class to take for a science credit for all the non-science majors out there. Dr. G is one of the sweetest professors at Samford. Attendance is not really mandatory,and there is study material for the 4 exams and the final on quizlet so it is easy to do well. Attend the labs, and go to a couple of planetarium shows for extra credit.

He is a nice man, and his class is pretty relaxed, but don't let that fool you. I took his relaxed class as a sign I didn't have to go to the lab that went with it and boy was I wrong. So go to class AND lab even though attendance isn't mandatory. I almost failed because I missed lab. Also the class was easy but I always got B's on the test so idk

Solid Choice for you Business Majors out there its a very nice Science Credit. Only Teaches Astronomy I think. It was a solid class.

Dr. G is the most adorable old man ever. He's a great teacher and his astronomy course is super easy as long as you have notes to study from. Attend planetarium shows to get alot of good extra credit.

Comment:

Interesting, funny, & knows his subject! The tests can sometimes be a little specific (reading the textbook would probably help), but I made Bs on the tests and still got an A. The labs help your grade, plus they are fun! He offers several extra credit opportunities, and if you do all of the labs that is also extra credit. Highly recommended! :)

The class is pretty clear cut. It is very important to attend the labs. You should also attend the extra credit opportunities. The tests are pretty straight forward for the most part, but there are a couple of tricky questions on every test. The tests are mostly based off the lectures, but a couple of questions are sometimes drawn from the book.

Easy. You don't have to go to class, but the notes help. Just go to every lab for the credit. Follow the outline for tests with help from the book and you can ace the tests. He gives loads of extra credit too to boost your grade. No work other than tests and easy in-class labs!

Definitely the best science class to take if your not a science major. The tests can be hard at times bc he will pull questions from the book. But, the winning aspect to this class is extra credit. He offers a inordinate amount of extra credit for viewings and going to two extra labs. If you do everything its 5 points to your grade take this class.
