Overall he is pretty good. He is crazy smart so sometimes he has difficulty explaining it in a way that everyone understands but other than that he is good. Easily accessible outside of class. Fair with grades. DO THE WEB ASSIGN HOMEWORK. Tests and final exam are worth a large portion of the grade so make sure you know the material for those

He is basically a genius, which means sometimes he can't effectively translate his thoughts into understandable explanations. This, however, is not a big problem as long as you do your WebAssign homework and use the "watch it" function. He is really helpful out of class and wants you to succeed.

Although a very smart man. He is by far the toughest math teacher I've had. He goes very quickyl through notes, messy handwriting and very unclear lessons. Homework is so different from class notes, quizzes and tests. Usually I'm very good at math and I struggled quite a bit

I am by no means a math guy, but Professor Dinitz helped me a lot in Calc I. It's not an easy class, but he is very available for extra help when needed. He also curves everything which was very beneficial.

I loved professor Dinitz. He really shows a love for math and it shines clearly in his lectures. The class is engaging and of course math gets dry sometimes but he really tries his best to make students enjoy it. The tests are very fair. If you try, then you will do well and have fun. I consider myself lucky to have been taught by this teacher.

Dinitz is one of the best professors I have ever had. He is so nice and genuinely really cares for his student. He has a bunch of office hours and is incredibly helpful during them and will let you stay past his office hours if you still need help. He clearly loves teaching and loves calculus, which makes the class so much more engaging and fun.

As a math major, Dinitz sticks out as one of my more entertaining and thoughtful lecturers. He is super passionate about math theories and all the quirky factsresults that come with them. He uses a good balance of "mathy" and everyday language in his explanations. If you can do daily HW and be comfortable with proofs you'll learn a lot & do well.

Dinitz is a wonderful professor and I really enjoyed having him. He's a great guy with a lot of enthusiasm and he knows what he's teaching. I would highly recommend him, but he does go kind of fast. He assumes that your up to par with pre-calc so he does expect you to know your algebra.

Goes TOO FAST!! If you want a teacher to actually teach you something, do not take this class. He teaches the class as if you know everything already. If your new to calculus then I would strongly consider a different teacher. He is too smart to be teaching this class. No help to students if he thinks topics are easy.

Dinitz knows what he's teaching well. He habitually misses his office hours or shows up late which proved extremely frustrating. He's fairly helpful at office hours, except when he thinks something is easy- even if you don't know what's going on- then he's no help. Be prepared to do a lot of learning on your own.

This class is FANTASTIC. Dinitz is an incredible lecturer. His office is frequently open and he offers enough help without holding your hand through the course. If you want to find the answers to questions like "How many unique necklaces can I make with 100 beads of 5 different colors given 6 reds and 35 blues", then this class is for you.

Very nice guy but he makes the material presented very confusing. He is hard to follow. Knows his stuff but I think he is better suited for a higher level math course where math comes naturally to the students.

Dinitz is a great prof! The material isn't always easy, but he goes over the homework and quizzes each class so you really get a chance to learn it. If you don't, he's always available for office hours and extra help. Makes class enjoyable because he's really funny and enthusiastic. My favorite prof at UVM!

He's just so goofy and I think most people grow to really like him as the class goes on. Some parts of the class were difficult but if you don't understand something he's always very willing to help if you visit him in his office. You can tell he loves what he does from his enthusiasm. Overall, a great guy.
