Incredibly nice guy, but his class is so pointless. Lectures are just him kinda awkwardly asking questions about things he puts up on the board. Papers weren't too bad, and he offers extensive help on all of them. Have to respond to group discussion online once a week, and your entire grade relies on the final Portfolio of 3 papers you choose

Easy class. Discussion board due once a week and had about 5 papers due the entire semester. The papers were really easy for the most part, coming from someone who is not a writer. You get 2 absences which sucks bc his class is really boring and it is almost pointless. Would take this professor again though.

I really wanted to like Maxson, but his lectures are tedious. You will read excerpts from stories and poems, and discussions on BB, but class attendance is almost pointless. You read other people's essays for examples, which helps, but that's it. Not too in depth, but not fun either.

Professor Maxson is very nice and seems to be an enthusiastic instuctor. However, his classes are extremely boring. We spent an hour of class going over a project that we spent an hour going over the week before. Also, I asked for resources to help improve my descriptive writing and he simply told me to read Hemingway. He's mediocre.

He was a really great teacher. The class was slow at times but my writing improved So much. He's really helpful; I would recommend him to anyone.

He takes attendance, so make sure you go to class! There is alot of readings, and you have to write a response to the reading on WEBCT (only a paragraph though). He is not clear about what he wants in your writing. You revise your work over and over and over and over.

Dr. Maxson is a soft spoken instructor. He uses a lot of examples of previous student's work on the over head projector for much of his lectures. On-line comments and class responses are not adequately addressed in class room discussions. No tests and no final for his class. Final grades are completely subjective. Attendance is taken daily.

i really don't get why everyone on here said he's great. he's boring and you do the same thing every day. he's not a bad guy at all, don't get me wrong. it's an easy B, but i wouldn't say the BEST professor out there, as some said.

Pretty easy teacher. Makes you write your papers in a very weird format that will never be used again. As long as you do your work, you should get a B, but it is pretty hard to get an A. Very boring classes, put me to sleep everyday. However, I would probably recommend him.
