McCommon's good book class is really interesting and pretty easy to pass. Lots of papers and quizzes, but if you do the reading you'll be able to pass with an A. Pretty nice guy, and funny too.

Jim has a colorful background in journalism and is definitely a man you want to learn it from. He has set expectations and nothing comes easy, but if you put in the basic time and effort you will leave the class ready to write for the college paper. Always willing to help anyone. Turn work in on time and show up for class and you will do fine.

It's abundantly obvious that no effort was put into the study guides, which ask for an unrealistic amount of work for a one credit class. The lectures consist of primarily guest speakers in many different writing professions, which is nice, but it's nearly impossible to get a question in over his own generic questions at the end of the presentation

Comment:

Professor McCommons is very knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to journalism. I found his responses on my papers to be extremely helpful and in this class, you were allowed to re-write all of your papers for a higher grade. He's willing to talk with you after class if you need help or even job advice, and is generally very understanding.

He is very good as a teacher. He cares about the material and he cares about his students. My dad died the week before finals and he offered to let me make up all work from that week and take my finals at a later time. However, my other professors were not that understanding or just not clear as to weather what they were going to do to help me out.

He is very informative when lecturing. If you come to class, pay attention, and take notes, you will be perfectly fine. He reviews for tests beforehand in class which helps a LOT so you will know exactly what will be on them, no surprises. Outside of class, though, he's not very personable.

I felt like I was back in Middle school. he is very nice but if you have even half a brain you already know everything that he "teaches" in this class. Very easy, all we did was worksheets everyday.
