Didn't enjoy taking this class. Before it began, couldn't wait to start..but I had a hard time learning because he didn't show me anything helpful. He went off on tangents that bored me and seemed to have strong opinions I didn't agree with. He was nice to me and didn't directly offend me but I wouldn't take another class by Kearney.

After taking Pop and Jazz theory with Dr. Kearney, I decided I wanted to major in music. It was THAT GOOD! The man knows anything you could ever want to know, and will help you at whatever level you are on. Jazz Guitar was also great.

Comment:

Kearney is my favorite music teacher I've ever had. He is very knowledgeable, and very experienced in the field of music (he'd tell us some fun stories). I'd recommend this class to anybody. If you're new to music, you can get all the help from him you want (e.g. stay after class), and if you're experienced, well, you will still learn a lot!

Great Teacher! Master Of The Guitar. Patient With My Girlfriend And I Even Though We Were Horrible With The Guitar. Learned How To Read Basic Sheet Music. Learned Simple Strumming, Finger Picking And Simple Melody's By The End Of The Semester. Class Will Be Easier If You Have Basic Knowledge Of The Guitar. A+++

i did NOT like him at all. All he did was put me down and belittle me. He told me and my friend we should not pursue guitar anymore because we aren't good at it. He was constantly get mad at me for not understanding music, because I had no musical experience. He told me to my face I was no good. He made me cry too. Dont take him!!!!

He's a cool guy, his tests are easy, he definetely preps you for them, if you come to class and pay attention while there, you'll get a good grade.. sitting near the front helps... it also helps if you bring your guitar the first day!
