Best professor. Really enjoyed what he was teaching. All the tests are online, three total. The book for the class was expensive and I never used it, don't worry about buying it. He only has you write 3 one page papers on concerts you attended. He could care less if you attended class, as long as you pass. I definitely recommend his class.

Joel Pape is a very friendly mellow guy, his teachings are straight from the book and his power points. You do not need the book. Attend class of course to stay on track.. but if you don't you'll be okay as long as you are smart with getting notes or looking over slides. Tests are online through BB. Easy Class & very informational.

Comment:

Joel is one of the nicest, if not the nicest Professors at Cortland. One of the most easy-going guys I have met. He wants all of his students to do well. He knows a lot about what he does, which is very cool also. If you can take any of his classes, do so, you will not regret it. I am not even a COM major, and I took his class, hes great!

Easiest class I have ever taken. Gives three two part tests. The first part is online and he cancels class the day of the test so that you have from 7 am until 11:59 pm to take the test as many times as you want to get a better grade on it. Cancels class all the time. Knows what he's talking about, doesn't expect you to be a music major.

OMG EASY EASY. He doesnt require you to come to class. The tests are super easy and he pretty much tells you what to study. I reccomend this class.

This class is great! Joel cancels class all the time, and attendance is optional. If you dont go to class, make sure you know someone in the class to tell you when the tests are. Go to the class right before the test and you will be fine, he tells you exactly what is on the test. I got an A+ and I barely went. Take him for your GE!!

Easiest class ever! Got an A. Always cancels class and lets out early. 1 paper and 3 easyyyy tests. Labs are a joke you only have to go to 4, you leave within 20 minutes, and you just move things around the stage for the plays. Take it.

This class is definately an easy A and a good way to get rid of your fine arts GE. The class can get boring, all he does is read right from the book, but u dont have to take notes, just highlight as you go. The test are easy and you have the whole semester to do the written work. Hes very nice and helpful and cancels alot of classes.

Answered my e-mails quickly, sometimes on the same day. Flexible with concert reports, etc. Lectures are a little boring but again he uses the text b/c we paid $80 for it. Most profs won't do that. Making time study for the listening and written exams were the hardest but doable. Loved it!

Joel is the man. Take theathre arts with him, class is always let out early, no homework except for one paper. The Tests are sooooo easy, study a little, but don't stress b/c he accepts just about anything, even if it's completely off. Easy to talk to.
