Mr. Brant is old, yes, but if you're going to teach a college math class you have to be better suited and good with communication. He is not. He is the sassiest guy I've ever met. He goes extremely fast and everyone gets lost. He doesn't help. He makes things difficult. Oh and he laughs at you. I don't recommend him in this life or the next

I had a horrible time in this class. If you are a visual learner and are not great at Math, DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER! I have never failed a class in my life before this one. It is almost the equivalent of an online class. No interaction outside of the book.

Horrible teacher! Do not take this professor if you don't have to. He works directly out of the textbook. All his explanations are straight from the book. All he does is talk to the chalkboard and do equations for the whole class. I'm not good at math, and I'm especially horrible when it's taught by John Brant.

I believe he is a professor to stay away from especially if you are not a math wiz. He would give nightly homework assignments but would not grade any of them. Only grades were our exams throughout the semester and our final and his exams are fairly hard. All classes are him doing problems out of the book for 50 minutes. He was a nice man though.

Comment:

A sweet old man who tries his best to teach a very difficult subject. His class is HARD, but it doesn't have anything to do with his teaching. He goes through things quickly, and answers questions awkwardly, but he does tons of examples. Take notes, and STUDY LIKE HECK. His study guides are lifesavers. If you like math, you'll like his class.

I would never recommend Professor Brant. He's a grumpy guy who you have to badger a bunch of times until he can help you. I went to ask him for an early review sheet for the next test and he avoided it and just told me to study everyday. I'm failing the class and cant seem to get help and pass the class.

Prof. Brant is alright. I was an average math student in high school and but had pretty much covered all the material in precalc so the class was mostly review. He is not very personable, but will help you if you need ask. He is not a bad guy, I just prefer teachers to be a little more personable.

He is a nice man, however he doesn't know how to teach. He stands up in front of the class room and lettures about math. Hard to understand and follow. Every class we do the same thing, he talks for 40 min then we do group work for 10... it gets pretty old.

Didnt offer much help other than head to the LRC for help. Would go through 3 topics a day and give large amount of homework and not take any time for questions in class. Dropped class and went to a lower level due to high difficulty and little help.

Mr. Brant is the Best!!! He is a wonderful teacher and makes the material easy to understand. He gives you a study guide before each test and allows you to use a sheet with formulas for some of the tests. Take notes and keep up and you will have no problem. If you have an A average at the end of class you can be exempt from the final.

Very easy professor. Nice guy, but not very sociable. The tests were all open-book or you could use your notes. I would take him again, even though it was a boring class. I skipped a lot (8am was hard to get up for sometimes) and still got a 4 in the class.

A lot of the times the class gets extremely boring. Knows his stuff tho, and the repeated use of exercises in books does help a lot. Review sheets make tests laughably easy. Thats not a bad thing though. Not very sociable but seems like a nice guy. Definitely helpful and will work with students individually before a class starts.

Very helpful teacher. He explains things very well, and goes through each of the different types of problems on the homework and on the test. One of the best math teachers I have had. I would recommend taking his class.
