Comment:

I walked in without ever holding a pencil aside from writing and left at the end with loads of experience. This man will work you hard and grade in a stern manner but the experience he gives you is immeasurable. Be prepared to have a budget for the class, you go through *alot* of paper. Ask for help and he'll give it immediately. Quite funny too!

Comment:

Had him for drawing 1. Everyday consists of drawing the same still life for the entire class. You will go through A LOT of paper. Three different mediums throughout the course. First graphite, then charcoal, and ink. 90 minute finals for each. Plus a final exam and portfolio. You will work in this class and unless you have great talent, expect a B.

Gaddy was a fun professor. I had him for Color Theory which is a class I thoroughly enjoyed. This is a homework based painting class so it can be a bit of work if you procrastinate. Expect to shell out a pretty penny in the beginning on art supplies, specifically paints, as his class requires a lot of stuff. There are a few group projects.

Gives vague/rude/overly critical feedback. Values neatness above all else, even in an intro class i.e. one in which students may have never handled paint like this. Even if you've done everything the project asks, if it doesn't look beautiful, he tears you down. Very vague in his instructions and expectations. Very repetitive assignments,

Photo major here. I hate drawing and I'm terrible at it but Gaddy makes it bearable. He's understanding and really nice so that helps. I got B's on all his final drawings. Like I said, I suck and hate drawing. He gives like one extra credit, graphite, charcoal and india ink final. If you take this class definitely take it with him. Portfolio final.

He is awesome. You have buy expensive paint but its worth it and you can find on Amazon. He knows what he's talking about and is very helpful when you ask. Projects are pretty fun but challenging at first.

He's a great professor! I've taken him for 3 classes and he's always interesting and funny. Projects are creative and he always lets you stray from the path a little bit if you like. Very relaxed and creative atmosphere in his classes.

Good about e-mails and questions. However during class, he doesn't give much useful feedback. He sits on his computer a lot. This gives you independence but come grading time, he may mark you down for things he never pointed out during the course of the assignment. So ask! Overall, chill guy and if you try, he'll see that.

Gaddy knows how to draw but he is overly critical of work. He takes his opinion into account when grading. If he doesn't like it you will get a low grade. The highest grade he gives is a B so if you're satisfied with that then take him. STILL LIFES is all you will know and especially during class you are restricted in what you can draw.

gaddy knows his stuff, he loves paint. he will help you out tell you what u are doing wrong and what needs to be fixed in your painting. he is a hard but fair grader. you must attend class bc the still-lifes are your work inclass, and u will get sick of the orange one. but other than that its fun you get to play with paint all class long...

He is the best drawing porfessor I have had. Always gives + and - fdbck & is easy to approach. Just ask for help & he is there. Often you don't have to ask, cause he gives you advice ahead of time. I am a much better artist cause of him. I always sign up for any studio class he has. Can't wait for Icons and Altarpieces. Bases grades off of imprvmnt

All lectures, not very helpful. Some of the tests had things on them that we had not gone over. He looks like Conan O'brien!
