He cares about the subject but is not tough on you. The lectures arent mandatory but recommended. He gives three test but you have a week to do them. Very nice man.

Hes okay, its my second time taking him. His tests are really hard the wording is weird. Notes dont help I got a C in both 1305 and 1306.

He has 3 tests. Attendance is not mandatory but required to pass since tests are based solely on the lecture and readings. He's super entertaining in class and I really enjoy his teaching style. He writes on the board, brings props and if you listen, he throws in jokes. Write everything or you'll miss things on the exam. I'm taking him again in1306

If you are looking to pass a class without any difficulties, this man is the way to go! Only thing you are doing is taking notes for the tests and the one essay he gives out. If you have a question he will help you answer it. Hes very passionate about history. Ask questions, and get with group members to help you with the test.

I took him for HIST 1306, and it was a fun class because he brings in a lot of props that help you see what he is talking about. Make sure to take a lot of notes, I had to get a bluetooth keyboard to keep up and don't just write what he puts on the board. He gives 3 take-home tests with hard questions but if you have good notes they are easy.

Take good notes, not just what he writes on board but also what he says. Compare w/ classmates. Get a study group to do take home tests and READ books he assigns. 1305 I got a B, 1306 I got an A. Show-up, Take GOOD notes/COMPARE & STUDY! :) He brings props from history that helps you visualize.

History with Hall recommended highly. Requires taking notes, attendance and effort. Tests are challenging but open book. Will remember all that was learned, grateful for the time. The events of American history are covered expertly. Lectures great, breaks up with stories. He's truly a historian, shows items that relate. Learned so much.

Great knowledge of history and clear communication of the subject. Take Notes, not only what he writes, but says. Take home tests that will require answers taken from class notes. Great use of visual aids, and it's obvious he is very intelligent, doesn't need to look at textbook. Makes it seem like events happened yesterday, not distant past.

Professor Hall knows his History. Test are very tricky, if you don't take notes just as he wrote them down, then you will fail his test. But, overall he is an easy going guy and you won't go wrong by taking his class.

Lots of slides. Really knows his history. 100% attendance & 100% note taking will not help you pass this class. His test are more like a mind game. You will only have 4 test that includes the final. Take his class at your own risk.

The guy is some kind of savant. He knows his version of history without looking at notes. The test are extremely difficult. It's one thing to take a test based on the book. It's another thing to take a test based on his perception of history. Take the class but don't miss any days or notes. If you miss a day/notes then you fail the class.

I think he is a really good professor, he SHOWS you history through objects/photos and knows his facts without looking at notes. You on the other hand--HAVE TO take notes. The OPEN BOOK tests are harder then hell. I still think he was a really good professor. Take at your own risk. 3Books to read. 6-1pg-essays to write. Done.

Two thumbs WAYYYYYYY down low! Don't waste your time taking this class, you will regret every minute of it. I was a lover of History right up until I took this silly class. I still like History but professors like Mr. Hall are the reason students get turned off of the subject. Boring class, silly non-History exams. In one word -- frustrating!

the reason I say attendance is mandatory is because in order for you to pass his HISTORY class class you need to know what he thinks, not what the facts are. He assigns books to read like liberty and tyranny, nuff said. A horrible "teacher". More of a biased wannabe political pundit. I am an avid learner and he turned me away from history.

If you want to lose sleep and grow old quickly ... and then FAIL, then take this class. Mr. Hall's skims over real history and focuses instead on making himself the class clown. You will pay a lot of money for this class in which you will learn nothing useful except how to crack silly jokes. A big N-O! S-T-A-Y A-W-A-Y!No textbooks used either.

Comment:

Boring class. The tests are easy but his grading is biased. On one test, he gave me a B and my friend an A, but we wrote pretty much almost the same answer to the question on the test.
