Lofland is a very kind and funny man. Learns your name quickly, calls on you randomly in class. Very accessible outside of class. That being said, if you're like me and don't understand physics that well, this isn't the class for you. He's very open about giving no structure in the class, just gives you problems to work on and teaches few terms.

He is a great guy. So funny and really cares about his students. He gives up to 10 points extra credit for going to office hours. Weekly quizzes are easy. 1/2 tests are dropped. Final is difficult.

Prof Lofland is a great teacher who really cares about his students. When he's not in class, he's in his office and gives up to 10 points extra credit for going to office hours. Weekly quizzes are easy and 1 of 2 tests are dropped throughout the semester. Hosted a review session and retaught the course in 3 hours the week before the final

Professor Lofland is a great professor! He makes sure each student actually understands the material, and is always in his office if needed. You have a small quiz each week, but they are very easy and two are dropped at the end of the semester. Also, you take two tests throughout the semester, and one of those also get dropped! Highly recommend.

Super nerdy but chill guy, but definitely takes physics seriously. Asks you questions to make sure you're paying attention. Only gave 2 exams and the final and gives you one question quizzes but tells you before about what they're on and does an example question if you ask. Gives extra credit if you go to his office hours. Nice grader

Conceptual ideas described in class are difficult to understand but Lofland is helpful in that he is always available in his office. Being an active student will help to learn the material. Take the extra credit opportunities he gives and you'll do fine.

Lofland is a good guy. He is not a fan of standing at the front of the class and telling you the material; you will work to derive the formulas and understand the concepts. However, he will certainly help you along the way. In my opinion this leads to a greater understanding of the concepts of the material.

Comment:
Lofland drops a test to make his passfail rate higher. He rarely gives a real lecture unless it's on some sort of rotational motion. If you enjoy reading your physics text book for hours than take him because you will learn nothing of value from the class unless you've taken AP physics in high school. I'd advise a different teacher for intro class

The guy is a great teacher, he's a little off, but he's one of my favorite professors. However, he makes you do mastering physics for homework. If you don't know what mastering physics is just consider yourself lucky it's the worst. But otherwise hes great.

A very odd man, but lovable. He is a bit hard to follow during class, but thats what the hw is for. I didn't have official lab reports, which was awesome and all the hw is due at the end of the semester. There are extra credit opportunities and he drops a midterm. Easier than your other Phys profs. The man is very quirky, but I found it amusing.

Extremely challenging material. He is always willing to help you if you stop by his office. Doesn't bring notes or a textbook, but instead has everything by memory or re derives it in his head. Brilliant man, just in his own world.

class is almost impossible to pass. I don't think he understands its "intro" to electricy and magnetism. tests are nearly impossible won't help u at all on them. u don't get any feedback on your grade other than obvious statments. his whole grading scale is confusing i think tests are everything. avoid all cost if u actually want to pass

In E&M 1 Lofland likes to challenge the class, but he is infinitely helpful. He is ALWAYS available in the science building and you can literally bother him for hours at a time until you finally understand. Speaking from experience.

He is very cool and very lax. He is also a genius and knows his subject very well. However, he is not the best teacher. I felt like I didn't know anything and his tests were very difficult. But, I got a decent grade anyway, because it seems like he grades you on what he thinks you have learned, not on what you actually get on your tests.
