Comment:
His classes are supposed to be discussion based but then he just talks over everyone the whole time. He also clearly could care less about his students and their well-being. However I didnt do any of the readings and just wrote bull crap for all of my essays/homework and I earned full points pretty consistently so its at least an easy A with him.

Comment:
Dr. Steinwand's IWC class was fun. There were lots of great discussions and the readings were relatively interesting. His lectures get draggy and disorganized though. There was quite a bit of writing but that's to be expected in a writing class. His feedback is great and he doesn't grade harshly.

His class is incredibly, unnecessarily hard. This is supposed to be an introductory course, and he made it one of the hardest courses I've ever taken, and I'm a senior.

Jonathan is a really nice person, but I just didnt gel with him as a professor. He has certain things that he is very passionate about, and I dont share those same passions. The whole class revolved around his love for sustainability, so if that doesnt interest you it can be challenging to produce high quality work for this class.

He didn't help me become a better writer at any point in his class and often focused more on environmental issues than how to build up a good paper. His grading criteria is vague at best. I really can't stand his lectures as he trails off a lot and doesn't really allow students to disagree with him.

Dr. Steinwand has high expectations for all the writers in his class. Excepts class participation a lot and lectures get long and boring. Not too tough of a grader but makes you work for it

He is never clear about what he wants. His lectures don't always make sense. I just don't think he's a good professor.

Not a fan of Steinwand. Although he likes to say he wants his students to participate, he shuts down a lot of ideas and ignores some of his students. He cares about his subject, but is very unclear in assignments and activities.

One of my absolute favorite teachers at CC. In my experience in the two classes I had, he has high expectations but rewards papers that are well thought out. He is also very open minded and enjoys hearing every students opinions/interpretations. Very easy to talk to and very supportive. I'd recommend any class from Steinwand.

Has a teaching style that is VERY hard to get used to - a lot of um's and trailing off and he's not very concise. It's clear he's passionate about English and the global community, though, and he's quite helpful.

Great guy who is very passionate about what he teaches. Can be a tough grader but always provides good comments on what to improve on. I learned a lot from his class. I will say, he is good at making a class that could be 45 minutes into 100 minutes. Other then that, great class.

Dr. Steinwand is an amazing teacher! He is extremely helpful if you go to him with an assignment. His expectations are very clear. While he does grade assignments kinda tough, if you ask for help you can increase your scores immensly. And it is true that he has fantastic hair!

oh god, all that type i spent writing essays upon papers upon commentaries. aargh. i'm not a bad writer, therefore didn't really learn anything special in class except what it means to be on a timeline for two months. grr. he's a very nice guy, a bit reserved, but also passionate about his work.

Knows his stuff--expects a lot, but a lot is your own interpretation. Speak out in class--he doesn't about care your opinion so much as that you share it with the class for discussion. Interesting teaching techniques. All in all, a fun class
