Comment:

This class was Modern Chinese Society. This was by far the most impressive course I ever took in six years and two degrees. Dr. Liu's knowledge of the complex forces shaping and defining modern China is inspirational. She was fun, a brilliant teacher and I even got my first post graduate job by teaching MCS to my interviewer in 20 minutes. A+ prof.

She is an amazing teacher and knows exaclty what she is doing. She isnt an easy grader, but she pushes you to be a better student and to want more out of life. I loved her class!

Comment:

People think it's all busywork but Liu always has a reason for it. Class was simulated to be like our projects and every bit of what people thought was "busy" helped immensely. There are reflection papers and peer-grading but I think it's more about generating a better sense of self-awareness. Liu is a great teacher and supportive in every way.

Sweet lady to say the least. However, the class requires a lot of work. The projects and papers were simple enough. Weekend activities and being peer graded is annoying. This class is not for the unmotivated or shy.

Dr. Liu is a very unique professor. Her teaching style is very different from other teachers but she really does go out of her way to help out the students. If you dont get the class keep going to her office hours! (CONTEMPORARY SOCIAL ISSUES)

Alright everyone, ease up will ya!! Yes, she is demanding and expects a lot out of our students, you will work for your grade, an A is very difficult however it is possible. She tells you what she wants on her assignments and you even have a chance to re-write your first two papers if you want. I got an A on a couple of papers and the rest were b's

Worst/most boring class ive ever taken. Expect to put a min. of 50 hours outside of class doing assignments and projects. Didnt debate any current social issues.. this class is a bust and you will leave with a headache each day.. i do not recommend this course to anyone!

very nice professor, but get ready to put some effort in her class! requires a lot of reading, if you lag behind you will definitely pay the price in the exams! she loves when you participate in her class, and even more when you go to her office hours. Whatever class it may be (I've taken her twice) you will work for your grade!

Tough class but definitely worth the effort to pass. Lots of studying and note-taking required. Cannot get away with missing class if you want a decent grade. Awesome at giving advice and helping though.

Although a generally nice lady who is willing to talk to you about any problems you may be having, Dr. Lu requires an abundence of out of the class work-15hrs community service and group weekend projects which seemed pointless to the class material. Tons of reading as well.Nice lady,annoying class.

I really loved this class. I thought I understood all of the information, key word "thought". Even though my essays reflected what was said in class, I never got better than a B-. I think Dr. Liu is one of the sweetest ladies I have ever met and she really cares about her students

I was appalled at the workload of this class. Three Saturday morning projects at 8:45 AM, 15 hours of community service due, and a 300-400 page book just about every week. She is not entertaining and this was the worst class I have ever taken, i am glad I am not a sociology major.

she was a great professor. she is very helpful and she realyl cares about her students. I would highly recommend this class for your soc requirement. she is awesome and so nice. be honest and clear in your papers and it will be an easy A.
