I had to chuckle and laugh at some of the bad reviews. Perillo is a nice lady, but she's demanding. She wants you to be specific when answering questions to labs and you have to study hard for tests and some of the materiel is from the labs. Is this class an easy A? No, but it's a good class with thought provoking materiel. I recommend Perillo.

By far the worst professor I have ever met. She is all over the place with assignments and will not give instructions for important projects. This professor does everything in her power to make you fail, if you value your mental health you will not take this class.

DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. I am currently taking this teacher for Intro to Environmental science, and let me just say that this is NOT a beginner class. She expects students to drive to a specific location EVERY week for labs, and the homework alone is enough. She makes sure that your life is stressful and no fun. Id rather die then take her again.

I had originally taken this class for fun. However, any questions that I had when curious about the current topic were met with an "I don't know, why don't you find out and tell me". It was extremely frustrating, seeing how I was asking her to clarify something she said. All of her information is out of date and she makes no attempt to update it.

Hated this class. In the beginning she mentioned that lecture is optional attendance (but recommended) but labs are mandatory. Not true, she assumes because you are not at every lecture you don't care, so immediately you are placed into the bottom of the barrel. Treats labs like a kindergarten rally, but grades so harshly when it comes to tests.

Such a great class. Perillo is adorable and so passionate about wildlife. You have three tests during the quarter, which you really need to study for. At the start of the quarter, she says that questions from quizzes will be on the tests. BUT there is more than those questions, so make sure to study ALL material.

Kathleen inspired me to change my focus at University. After taking her course, I have sought out field ecology courses and have done quite well. I would take this course again, and I encourage others to enroll. I am now doing field research with marine mammals in Maine and Canada.

Ms. Perillo is nice and outgoing. It's clear that she's passionate about the environment! Now, her class may seem insightful, but passing this class takes some work. Aside from textbook reading and taking tests and quizzes, there are also labs, a project, and community service that need to be done. However, extra credit is also available!

She cares a lot about birds, but makes this 3 credit class much too hard to even pass. Half the class dropped out by the end of the quarter and the rest of us were scrambling to pass. I feel like I learned a lot and enjoyed what I learned, but it wasnt reflected in my grade which is frustrating

Kathleen is very enthusiastic about biology, and super sweet. She has the tendency to get a bit sidetracked which might be a bigger issue in a lecture class. The class I took was a straight-forward A for me, but I was already pretty knowledgeable in the area. I would definitely take another bio class with Kathleen. Great contact for bio nerds.

Incredible teacher. Class is a breeze for me but Im learning a lot. 6 hours on one day in class is a really long time for everyone but its by far my favourite class. Fantastic lecturer- you never tune out!

So far easy although its a lot of work and a lot of time is required for this class. You have community service to do, project, quiz and tests in class. Although labs are easy but boring sometimes. Lastly its a long class but its only 3 days a week!

She is a wonderful teacher, super helpful, explains things well. You have to be willing to put the effort in and do the work, and prepare to do some reading. The assignments aren't too hard or time consuming, but you definitely can't be lazy and expect to pass.

Get ready for scientific discussions, interactive labs and thought provoking reading. Kathleen brings you to the heart of environmental issues. I would take this class again. Highly recommended.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! I am surprised how this class is not a 6 credit class. The amount of time you have to put in at home for this class is insane. You have to go on 2 field trips for a 3 credit class. This is the hardest I've ever tried for a class and this is a low credit class. Harshest grader ever. Take Geology instead-5 credits and easier

Very interesting course and she's a great professor, always pretty upbeat and gives good lectures. You must read the textbooks but as long as you complete your work you should get a good grade. The labs are mostly outside and at other locations which I liked. Would definitely take a class from her again!

Good, motivated and helpful teacher, particularly if you're interested in going into environmental science. Her classes do require lots of effort and time, however, and the lectures can be a little boring and monotonous... but overall great teacher!

Throughout the course there was little to no communication from teacher to student, nor was there a thorough grading of the assignments. Even for a 5 credit class, we put in more work than we should have. The 4 day field trip was fun, but as a group we were always late to our destinations and had no time for the assigned homework she gave us.

Easy class but only take it if you're interested in the environment. She's a nice lady, but a harsh grader on short answers. Write too much and spell everything out to avoid losing stupid points. Also choose the community service option over the current events option. You'll thank me later.
