The course structure changes every time it's taught. Had 3 online at-home midterms and same for the final- gave 6 EC points added to our final grade too. Lab dumb and waste of time but 0 work for it - doesn't count for grade either. Not much work and easy A but lecture is dry and boring. Co-taught w/ Mike Windham - he does almost all the teaching

Professor Pryer is so passionate about plants and she and her co-professor, Professor Windham, are able to make some of the most seemingly dull topics interesting. They are true assets to Duke Biology and Duke. It also doesn't hurt that they bring in lots of plant-based snacks to their classes!

Dr. Pryer is a nice professor. However, certain questions on her exams are trivial and not contributive towards learning about plants. She is also surprisingly disorganized and sends assignments in an untimely manner. It's clear she cares little about the class. Worst professor I've had at Duke.

Extraordinary course. Pryer is loving, hilarious, down-to-earth, and all-around wonderful. The best professor and person I've met here. You must take a class with her!

You have to keep up with the weekly quizzes, because that is also your attendance. I found that she ended up dropping lowest quiz grades so my quiz average ended up being fine. The hard part about the class is that sometimes it is boring because it is all lectures and you scribble notes down and the amount of information you learn is a lot.

Professor Pryer is really nice. Although the assignments sometimes lacked clarity, I found the class to be fun and interesting. She loves to bring in fruit and vegetables for the class. Her grading system this semester was a little odd, and I worried that with the weekly quizzes would ruin my final grade, but I came out the class on good standing.

This class shouldn't have been hard but Prof Pryer's grading policy this semester made it almost impossible to get a good grade. The content was rather easy but there were often random, nit-picky questions on quizzes, or questions that had nothing to do with the topic we were discussing.
