Honestly an amazing human. She may be a little scatter brained, but is willing to do anything for her students. She cares about your success. She may not really know everything about the program, but she will get you the information you need if you make sure she doesn't forget. 20/10 human, but a 8/10 professor.

Shes alright. Can be somewhat "loopy" acting. Her assignments are all over the place so you will depend on your classmates for clarification. Shes very laid back though. Her tutorials on art techniques are very helpful but they just take sooo long but its okay. She is a very nice lady

She's a good art teacher, but a HORRIBLE education teacher and advisor. If she's your advisor, try to seek help elsewhere, she'll just confuse you and try to get you out of her office. on a personal level, however i really genuinely like her and she does care.

Although Mrs. Nelson is a nice woman, she is very unhelpful. She does try and she is passionate about what she does,but her assignments were very unclear and most of them in the class were relatively pointless. She never really taught us anything, so if you're a beginner be warned, she expects you to have knowledge of all the tools/techniques.

Great one on one to talk to. (she's also my advisor) however, in class her assignments rarely make any sense and we ended up talking to our peer mentor rather than her. very quiet make sure you talk to her if you have questions she really does try and help.

Ms. Nelson is one of the sweetest ladies you will ever meet! She absolutely loves what she teaches and it shows. Yes, she is a tough grader but that's what's needed if you want to be an artist. Always willing to help and very easy to talk to. I've taken three classes with her and am taking more next semester!

Passionate about subject. Very willing to help. Gives thought provoking assignments and constructive feedback. She is an artist's teacher. Work hard and be creative--she expects a lot out of students, as she should. If you get a low grade it is because of poor attendance or consistent use of thoughtless/cliche imagery. Art takes work and time.

Ms. Nelson is such a great teacher! She is very helpful and gives you great advice on ideas. As long as the technical parts of your work are covered and you have a fair concept you should get a good grade. She is the sweetest lady and is always available for help!!

Had her for printmaking and 2 art educ. classes. She cares a lot about producing well qualified art teachers and asks a lot of her students but keeps everything relative to the work force. The many lesson plans and mock teaching we did was very beneficial. Amazing lady.

She often gets really confusing when giving assignments, but is willing to change the due date if everyone is confused. Really great person, and is apparently good as a studio prof, but is not so great as a lecture prof. I'd suggest taking her, just not this class.

nice person but a not so nice teacher. way too much work for one class that has little to do with my area of concentration. which makes her class more of a distraction than a help and turns me off to drawing just when i'm starting to get good at it.

She a great person, but a bit flaky. As long as you show effort and you're on time, you're fine. But don't ask her to change her expectations. She has high standards, which challenged me to do better. Never end a sentence with a preposition! it's the only grammar rule she knows!

Ms. Nelson is one of hte best teachers I have had at Longwood. She is an amazing educator with an incredible eye for design. She focuses her classes on giving positive reinforcement, thus making sure that her classes are centered around a positive environment. I highly recommend her for an class.
