Groover is awesome. She is so sweet and makes class discussions interesting. Don't let that fool you though, she's a tough grader. She wants you to really think about all of the books she assigns, which is understandable, esp for AA Lit. All of the books were actually super fun to read too, even for people who hate reading. She's great, take her!!

This professor is phenomenal! If you are English Major, or passionate about African American Literature and movements, take her class. She encourages wide discussions in her class and people to share their opinions. Dr. Groover is also willing to work with you if you have any issues or misunderstandings. She really wants her students to succeed.

Comment:

Groover's women's lit class is great if you stay on top of your work and get everything done. If you forget to read, you will probably just feel awkward and nervous the whole time as it is a discussion based class. She is a pretty tough grader when it comes to papers, but is always willing to discuss anything and makes herself very accessible.

This class is an English class, so be prepared to read. Some nights there were over 100 pages to read along with reading notes. Dr. Groover definitely makes you work hard for your grade, but the class is interesting and it is obvious she cares deeply about her students and the material. Would take again!

If you don't like reading, don't take this class!! Hours of reading due each class, and lots of analysis. It can be interesting, but she grades pretty tough. Pretty hard to get better from her feedback. I'd try pretty hard each homework but only made a 10/10 once. Discussion during class is fun tho.

Dr. Groover is so amazing! She is clearly so passionate about the topic and is very interesting to listen to. Discussion based class but to be expected from an english class. Tough grader but you will be fine if you do the work & READ. She's so awesome! Definitely recommend!

Groover is a great teacher! She wants her students to do well and is easily accessible. Attendance is mandatory though, and you'll generally have about 80-100 pgs. of reading for most class periods. You will also have to bring printed reading notes to each class. A really enjoyable class but do not take if you're not prepared to read.

Dr. Groover is the best prof I've had here at APP. We had to read 5 books, along with other shorter works, throughout the semester, typically one every 2 weeks. While the class was not easy, it was very interesting and the books are awesome (from a person that doesn't read regularly). KKG will change your life for the better!

The hardest grader I've ever had for an English teacher. Really nice lady, and very insightful, but NEVER gives out A's no matter HOW HARD I TRY. If you really like English take her, if not don't because there is a lot of reading and writing.

Professor Groover is amazing! You read 5 novels & have essay tests, but she is such a wonderful teacher that I dId not mind the work. One week of class, I sat in the back & did not discuss the readings with the class because I was sick, & she came back there as soon as class was over & asked if I was ok. she truly cares for her students.

Dr. Groover is fantastic! She is extremely helpful and is ALWAYS willing to accommodate unforeseen circumstances. There is a TON of work though; you will read multiple novels and have to write reading notes based on what you read, and her tests are pulled from the reading notes and class discussion. PAY ATTENTION to the quotes she mentions!!

KKG IS THE BOMB. She is so helpful and truly cares about her students. This class isn't an easy A-- there's a lot of reading and writing, but that is to be expected of an English class. She is always available to help outside of class & drops your lowest grade. Awesome professor, awesome class.

Prof. Groover cares deeply about her students and takes the time to get to know you. There is a lot of reading in this course and thorough notes and class participation are a must. Overall, it is a very good class and I enjoyed all of the books. Note: This is an African American Lit class. Come with an open mind and you will enjoy the course.

KKG is AWESOME! By far one of the best teachers I've ever had. Can be a tough grader but she is fair. make sure you go class it helps in so many ways. She is so kind and always keeps students in mind. Shes willing to help when needed and she loves if you visit her office. Trust me,you will definitely notice a difference in her grading if you visit!

She is so sweet and interesting to listen to. The hour and 15 min class lasted usually an hour. Downside is that I would try so hard on reading notes but could never manage to get above an 85. I guess I just didn't understand the text enough.
