He is not a bad guy but, he will fail you for poor attendance. If you fail one test you are done for, there is no extra credit, no other assignments other than three tests and a couple of journals. Unless you are good with reteaching yourself I would not recommend this class at all and don't take it in the morning.

He is an intimidating teacher at the beginning, he won't accept lateness and swears if you are a minute late just don't show up. His tests are not That long, and there is no final, which is nice as long as you do good on the 3 tests. They are hard though and spelling counts. Journal assignments can be from 2 pages to 6 pages. Not the worst teacher

Was not a good prof at all. He makes easy concepts so difficult. Had to teach myself the material because of his lack of clarity in his lectures. Honestly, I would not recommend taking his class unless you have to. It's like he enjoys seeing his students suffer in class and on exams.

I started the semester excited about Greek philosophy, until I walked into Dr. Howe's classroom. Dr. howe is awful. He teaches from material not given to the students and he does nothing online. If you don't do well on one of three grades he encourages you to drop his class rather than helping you succeed.

Such a tough class to take. The book is hard to understand and you read way too much out of it. Harsh grader, and very specific in what he wants on the papers he assigns. If you do bad on a test, he'll tell you to just withdraw instead of trying to help you pass. Lectures and reading are essential to passing the test.

Howe is an interesting character. He is loud and obnoxious and half the time I had no idea what he was talking about. But if you take good notes then you will be just fine on the tests. Not a bad teacher, just not my favorite. Oh ! and you cannot miss his class! It WILL affect your grade

Just love Howe. He's extremely knowledgeable, witty, and entertaining. Definitely recommend him! Only two assignments during the course. Take notes, listen, and ask questions if you have any. He can be intimidating at first, but once you chat with him you'll find Dr. Howe as sweet as sugar.

Dr. Howe is an amazing professor at UWF. Although he is VERY tough, he is also very knowledgeable which makes the class interesting. He really knows what he's talking about. His lectures are confusing but he's always there to help. YOU NEED THE BOOK!! The tests are centered around the readings. Pay attention and you'll be fine.

Attendance is mandatory, I arrived at class at 8:01 once (I kid you not),and he closed the door on my face. He makes the material very understandable but always take notes and detailed ones at that. He only gives you 4 grades three being tests which are mostly fill in the blank. I wouldn't recommend this class if you're looking for something easy.

I took him for intro to philosophy, and he was great. All you have to do is write down the stuff he puts on the board and your good. Don't bother buying a book he always went over the material in class. Definitely go to class and take good notes.

Overall he's an ok teacher. I found him sometimes very difficult to follow. I have taken very advanced upper level courses and the first day of class he went into this long lecture about who should and shouldn't be in his course. And THEN called me out in front of the whole class as to why I was in his course. I dreaded attending class.

I think I've had Howe for almost every class that he teaches... He's great! Don't let him intimidate you at the beginning - just read the material and TAKE GOOD LECTURE NOTES. As long as you actually come to class, take really good notes, and actually do your assignments - you'll make an A. ...and although I love Sal and Nick too, Howe is the best!

If you are a person that needs the answers in front of you (like multiple choice) to do a test, this class is NOT for you. All of his tests are fill in the blank & you write a few papers (VERY easy though). Material is hard to understand so STUDY STUDY STUDY! and READ the material!

Howe began the semester barking about not sitting in the back, being on time & not missing class. I could see how some people would be intimidated b/c I was at first. However, if you chat with him outside of class & establish a rapport with him, he becomes this laid-back, sweet dude. Yes, he's kooky, but he's very knowledgeable. I totally dig Howe.

Howe is one of the better teachers I've ever had. He is eccentric and slightly on the nutty side, but it only makes him that much more effective in my opinion, particularly teaching existentialism. He is passionate and knows what the hell he's talking about. He's not impossibly hard, but he does require you to study a lot. Be prepared to think.

Howe is psycho! His tests are all fill in the blank and if you don't take adequate notes or study to the best of your ability you will fail. The class started out full and then in the end there were only 9. You will write papers but he grades them fairly easy. The tests counted for more but then after I withdrew the papers counted more. Unfair!
