Comment:

When week 12 out of 15 came around, he didn't have anything graded until multiple people complained. Gave horrible feedback on the assignments, so if you did anything wrong you'll never know. Lectures are super boring. My favorite thing about the lecture is counting how many times he says "key parts" and "in that sense" (taken during covid on zoom)

He speaks as if you already know everything about the subject, he does his best to explain but usually makes it more confusing. If you are more personable with him your grade will be higher,, he is very nice tho

He is a fun professor and lectures most of the time. However, he takes forever to grade things so you can't even get feedback to improve on your next assignment. Expected more out of an honors class (FYI: taken remotely on Zoom)

He appears a little awkward but really cares about what he teaches. Had him for Honors Sem: Earth in Peril. Classes were somewhat interesting but got very repetitive. U do a lot of group work and watch movies. Quizzes are somewhat challenging. FILL OUT AND STUDY THE AUTHOR GRID --> this is the bulk of the midterm/final. Final is a repeat of midterm

You need to be really good at keeping up on the syllabus especially if you miss class because he doesn't respond to emails and never grades anything until after The final. As long as you submit all the assignments you will be OK, but you are going to want to make sure they are good.

he is the funniest professor i've had at JWU... attendance is not mandatory but just show up ... lets us leave early almost every class.. go to review days before any test and you'll get a great grade

LOVE HIM! He's the best professor to take, gives extra credit options every week, super funny and obviously loves and knows what he's talking about! The first few classes he has people do roll by writing down their name other than that you can read all material online and never show up.

Great teacher, keeps you engaged in discussion, didn't use the book. Disorganized, didn't cover all test material, questions & answers are not clear. Offers extra credit, but forgets to give you the assignments, & is a slow grader. Class finished 10 days ago, still don't know my final grade, half assignments still ungraded. Takes class outdoors.

The online courses are always a little more work intensive but I found this class to have an exceptionally heavy workload. Professor Hengen was a little slow on posting grades but was responsive when I reached out to him about it. This course was challenging but not impossible.

Comment:

The class with him is a combination of him lecturing and joking around with students. He'll take something you told him the first week and try to relate that topic into the lecture almost every week. The class was easy, very relaxed, and the textbook wasn't used at all. I'd definitely take him again.

This guy is a corn ball. Likes to joke around great lecture to be in. Explains topics well in lectures and labs. In Lab he is very lenient when it comes to lab reports, very easy going. I wish i had to take another science would definitely take him again.

Comment:

Professor Hengen is a great guy! I took his Honors Earth and Peril seminar. He's slightly random in his teachings, but gets you talking. This class makes you look at the world differently. Many nature walks! There are some readings and multiple papers but the grades are fair. Missing a few classes won't kill you and he does take home tests.

Professor Hengen was great, such an easy grader and really shows concern for his students. If you ever have a problem just talk to him about it. Overall probably one of the best professors i have ever had the pleasure of knowing.

Love him as a person, as a teacher he is ok he gives extra credit if you need it, but he doesn't grade some homeworks he collects, or doesn't collect home works he said he would at all. He will let you make up test and homework up until the term ends, but Honestly if u have him as a teacher u will pass no matter what.

Worst professor I have ever had. Did not post one grade for the entire trimester and answered to no emails. Talks about the most random stuff all class long, and isn't able to clarify what the courses material actually is. Going into a final with no idea what my grade will be. Unfortunately, i did not get to evaluate this class - but he is awful!!!

He is a great professor. We took several field trips during class time. Even though it was just somewhere near, at least we get to get out of the classroom. He is really general at grading as long as you submit sth. He said EVERYONE will pass the class, just the matter of A or B. Some classmates didnt do any assignment at all... SO Take him!

He's so funny. The type of teacher to pick on different students, interrupt his lecture to ask you about what kind of Starbucks you got this morning. Just a really nice guy. He made Environment very interesting to me because he made it relate-able to real world scenarios. Take him, his class is easy.

His lectures are rather boring, however he accepts work up until the last day. very understanding, very easy, very nice guy. I would definitely recommend him and trace him again. VERY VERY easy grader
