Prof. van Roojen is a good professor. Lectures can often be pretty boring, but he posts slides after class so you can always review them. You can get by with not doing the readings. My TA who grades papers has been very strict and stingy this semester. They really make you hit every point on the rubric with exceptional marks to get full points.

I found lectures quite boring, nobody paid attention. Oftentimes the material just went over everyone's heads. There are only 4 paper assignments (the only other grade is iClicker questions) which puts a lot of pressure on doing well. He is very helpful outside of class and responds fast to emails. Nice guy overall.

Mark is super nice and extremely helpful! If you do the bare minimum you get an 87.5 (He'll tell you this himself). He will help if you have questions and always does what is best for the students. Class isn't the most interesting, but it is easy and a good gpa booster.

Great class for ACE 8. Your final grade is 2 exams, 2 papers, and clicker based lecture points. The readings have nothing to do with topics for assignments, so do not waste your time reading. Assignments based all on your opinion, get lecture handout and form an opinion. You will pass the class no problem.

This class is the definition of a college lecture, however i also think the professor does a really good job at making philosophy a lot easier to understand.

His lectures are pretty good. There are some boring parts, but that is bound to happen eventually. He assigns a bunch of readings and gives iClicker questions on them, but I got by fine without doing most of the readings (I had a very busy semester). The exams are essays. They're pretty hard, but if you put in the work, you can easily ace them.

This class is easy to pass, there are only a few papers you have to write, and they aren't very long. The most important thing to do is to show up to class, even though the lectures can be very boring, and do the reading. Grading is rather lenient, so don't stress about the papers too much if you go to class most days.

The class is all papers, even the exams are essays. The topics are easy and mostly pretty interesting. Show up to class and answer the clicker questions and you'll some extra points at the end.

Van Roojen does a wonderful job selecting issues that have support on both sides and presenting them fairly. Class never felt like a lecture, but more of a meaningful discussion. While the paper grading policy is sometimes unclear, TAs do a good job conveying what they want. Lots of reading outside of class but the topics are usually interesting.

Mark made this subject very interesting and did a good job of communicating with the class. The only homework was reading assignments online (no textbook!) followed by in-class clicker questions. There aren't very many grades- two essay tests and two papers plus clicker questions, but I'd definitely recommend it!

He's great. A really interesting guy. Makes all the complicated philosophy jargon sound like kindergarten english. It's a 3 credit hour class that takes about a half hour a week of studying.

I dropped this class after the first week. So boring! Everything he says sounds the same, as if he's just repeating himself and it's so hard to pay attention. Would not recommend.

Mark is a great guy, but I think he makes his class really easy so he can spend more time smoking crack or marijuana. If you pay attention to his lectures, you don't have to read the readings posted on his website. He knows how to re-explain something when someone is confused. The papers/tests are more opinion assignments.

This guy apparently does not know how to use Blackboard. He doesn't put the syllabus or any of the course documents up, which makes communication inconvenient. Not bad at lecturing but not particularly good either. Don't go out of your way to take this guy's class.

Easy class, it was 2 classes and a recitation... typically I would go to the class once a week and rarely the recitation. Sometimes the class was interesting but if you attended the first few weeks the rest was the same thing over and over. The only reason you need to go to class is to turn in the short answers (which you can make up).
