Absolutely amazing professor. He really does care for his students and the most important thing to him is that his students understand the material. Weekly quizzes in lab they are wordy and challenging, you will definitely have to study for them. Funny guy, will cause you have a newfound love for bio.

Comment:

He is an amazing teacher who knows so much. Everything he teaches is important and very knowledgeable. It is important to attend his lectures and labs, because he gives alot of informations. I enjoyed biology alot because of this guy. Gernert is THE best. If you want to learn, better take his class! He makes both lecture and lab interesting.

Literally amazing teacher. I have learned SO much about biology from his class, and haven't forgot much a year later. Lots of quizzes but he drops the lowest few, and occasionally curves, including tests. Lectures are amazing, and the labs range from boring and tedious to really fun. All-in-all, if you actually want to learn, this is THE guy. Love.

Professor Gernert is truly passionate about teaching. He is tough on you and expects nothing but greatness and makes you want to stride for it. I didn't do as well as I may have in other classes, but I learned more than I ever expected.

It's Bio 1 and he teaches mostly Chemistry. A lot of people have not taken Chem but he teaches Chem as if we're supposed to know it. He takes off points if you spell a word wrong and for little things in general. He gave me partial credit for a conversion problem I got CORRECT. He says "I didn't like the way you did it, do it my way" RIDICULOUS

Dr. G is kind, funny, and brilliant. BIO 2010 definitely isn't an easy class, but he's more than happy to help you out. He's very understanding, and his lectures are actually enjoyable! Take him for both lecture and lab if you can. He's a wonderful professor.

An absolute privilege taking Dr. Gernert. Takes the time to make sure that the class gets the material. There are no surprises on the mt/final. Make sure you go to class since his tests come straight from there. Would 100% take him again for another class.

Dr. Gernert is the best ! He teaches extremely well and he is so passionate about the subject. He wants you to think and understand the material, instead of memorizing it. Also, his sense of humor is amazing. He is the best Professor one could ask for !

Dr. Gernert is AMAZING. Best professor at Baruch. Lecture exams are based ENTIRELY on the notes. Go to take class, pay attention, take good notes, and you shouldn't have a problem passing the course with at least a B if not an A. Lab quizzes are slightly challenging, but he drops the 3 lowest by the end of the semester. AND HE CURVES

Dr Gernert is an amazing professor. Don't expect Bio 1 to be an easy class. Sometimes it was so stressful that students would stay up late to study in groups. Lab: do not miss dr Gernert's lab under any circumstances. Gives tricky questions on the lab midterm and final. Try to remember what you did in lab and what results did you achieve.

Professor Gernert knows his stuff. He's also very funny! I took his class Fall 2014 and it was one of the classes that I look forward to. Make sure to take notes and study for his exams (please, study in a group, it helps A LOT). One more advice, take him for lab AND lecture!!!

EVERYTHING is based on notes. Exams, finals, quizzes are all notes. Listen to every word that comes out of his mouth and if you understand it, learn it, memorize it, you will do fine. He's a very good teacher but doesn't go much into detail about certain concepts, since it's an into class. Lab quizzes are straightforward, we took 10, he dropped 3.

Comment:

Worst thing you can do is skip class. Do take notes like a maniac! Early in the morning but not boring in the slightest. Pay attention to his anecdotes they often help or even get asked in tests. Have him for lab? Prepare for tough quizzes but he drops at least 2 and gives you an advantage for the final lecture exam. Tough but enjoyable class.

This guy is a walking dictionary. Go to class. Listen to him and yull not only pass his class with a good grade but you can also skip studying for the Biology MCAT section. Thats if you can remember all the wonderful information coming out of his mouth.

Hands down best science teacher I have ever had. He is extremely knowledgable and just such an amazing teateacher. The material is challenging but he explains everything and answers all your questions. I think he might know everything too.. literally

Exam is all lecture notes. Be there for lecture, that's all you need. He is amazing though, the man has so much interesting knowledge you wish he'd talk forever, seriously he's so interesting. He's able to give real life examples of the thing he's teaching about. Wish every professor every knew this much about the material they were teaching.
