Professor Mathews became more and more hands off as the semester went on. It's all self taught and there is no help from the professor at all. The only reason I got a B is because I spent 4+ hours a day studying and trying to figure it out by myself. No exam reminders so you basically have to memorize the syllabus. Sent multiple emails, no response

This class has tons of homework, an online quiz for every chapter, and every two chapters there is an online exam and an in person exam. Sounds crazy, because it is. But Mathews online tests/quizzes have unlimited amounts with no penalty. And the biggest plus is the in person exams are EXACTLY the same as the online ones. Loads of work but easy A/B

Comment:

Mr. Chakka is the best math professor I have ever taken. Between his funny notes and the easy to use MyMathLab, all of the material was easily ingrained in my brain. For the haters saying that you don't need to show up, that is if you are lazy and do not want to learn. The MyMathLab homework is a little plentiful, but all you have to do is do it.

Class is taken on MyMathLab. You have literally up until the last day of the class to turn everything in. You can arrive at the SAME grade in this class by simply doing everything at your own time and pace. Coming to class is often a WASTE of time as you do so little examples. Only take if you need flexibility and can teach yourself EVERYTHING.

Professor used online program called ALEKS, which was very helpful in explaining every problem and how to do it, but you have to pay after a trial period. If you got a bad grade on a test, you are allowed a second attempt before a set date but you only retake the questions you missed. So if you get an 80% you have a second chance to up it to a 100%

Really prepares you for the real world. No hand holding here. I started the class with almost no knowledge of the material. My notes as well as my test scratch paper work went form resembling to a 5 year olds writing/drawing to an experience note taking and work doing journalist. Do the work, learn the material and realize how much you can succeed.

The online math 60 was a breeze. No idea on the complaining of the work since just do the work assigned and you'll be fine. Tests were mostly the same as the practice ones, so it gave you a clear view on what to expect. Can't wait to take his online Stats class next semester.

If you're willing to buckle down and do homework work you will pretty much get an A... his practice exams are the exact problems as the ones on the real exam so there's no excuses. He isn't an amazing teacher or anything, but his lessons are fairly adequate. The online homework will teach you everything anyway provided you suck it up and do work.

he's a nice dude. not everyone does, but i personally love the jokes he makes. he can be disorganized and confuse himself a lot but he's a generous grader. if only a few/nobody got a question right in an exam, he turns it into bonus points- i received a score higher than the perfect score because of that. exams are exactly like practice exams

he's a really nice guy but not the best teacher out there. often disorganized in doing problems on the board but he's an EXTREMELY lenient grader & gives a lot of bonus points. last chapter exam was take-home and half of the final was take-home as well. exams are exactly like the practice exams online so do them. LOTS of homework. good luck

He provides no lectures or knowledge on this subject. You have to teach yourself everything. You have weekly homework assignments and 5 on campus tests. Your grade is mostly made up of your test scores, so if you do not do well on your tests, the homework barely helps. I would HIGHLY reccomend not taking this teacher. HE IS TERRIBLE!!!

Very good teacher. He used the program ALEKS for the classwork, which you have to keep up with daily, but it really helps you understand the material. It brakes everything down to simplest terms. If you email him, he is very quick to respond. He is very understanding incase you miss deadlines or something due to emergencies.

This is the worst professor I have taken. He has zero credibility. Not only is he terrible at math, he can't even manage to show up to class on time. Always late classes and he was 40 min late to the final. The only reason you should take this class is if you plan on teaching yourself, because that is what you will have to do to pass.

Profesor Chakkanakuzhi is one of the nicest profesors I have taken and he is a real nice guy. There is a lot of homework which makes it easy to fall behind but if you need help Mathews is more than happy to walk you through any issue. I would toatally take him again.

If he's the only prof teaching the class you need, wait a semester. I wish I did. He goes off topic a lot, shows up late to class, and didn't have a syllabus ready for over a week. No textbook either. His accent is hard to understand and he explains the math in a way that is quite difficult to understand.

Lectures often get off-topic, the professor was late every class when we had a 50min time slot. He doesn't require, or recommend, a book. This at first seems great, until you realize that you have to go hunting through the internet or go to tutors for help. He uses odd notations, assigns a ton of homework, and it doesn't prepare you for the tests.

He give too much hw online and tests online and quizzes online they matter a lot and then on top of that he moves on to quickly skips because he assumes you know them and confuses you. I wouldn't take him again yes he's nice, but he gives too much hw which interferes with studying for his class.

he assigns homework but online which is the worst for me and its hard to understand because of his accent, he goes way to fast and his exams are extremely hard, I only passed because of the take home test which I cheated on and got an A on so that saved my grade from a D to a C
