He really cares about his students and wants to see them succeed. Grade is test and paper heavy, but the tests and papers are so easy and he gives ample time to do papers and study questions. Test questions were given ahead of time and he chooses questions from the ones he gave you. Get an online text and cheap Indebted b/c you will use both.

The course is mostly based on class discussions. I don't think attendance was compulsory, but he did take attendance. Reading is a must because your grade is based solely on discussions, papers, and tests, which are about the readings. This class is harder than your average sociology course, but average compared to UCOR and other courses.

Super nice guy who is passionate about the subject. You will have to read almost everyday however, the tests will consist almost solely of the readings you do. He was a very easy grader and gives extra credit if your answers are particularly good. Easy and interesting class overall, just a lot of reading.

He is passionate about certain aspects of cultural anthropology but lectures are often tangential or repetitive. He also lets his left-leaning bias show. I am a liberal student myself--it just has no place in the classroom. Ideally, educators should encourage their students to ask questions. Dr. Schneirov answers them himself. Easy if you read tho

Dr. Schneirov may be my favorite professor I've had at Duquesne. He has a real way of instilling his passion in his students that encourages excitement about the ethnographic process. HIs reading selections are always interesting and he chooses truly interesting topics to lecture on, from RuPaul's Drag Race to the rituals of tribal societies.

AWFUL professor. Treated this 100 level gen ed as a graduate-level course. Had to read 100+ pages a week, and had papers due every Friday on them. I did not learn a single thing from this class, except that the professor is boring, strict, and requires absurd amounts of pointless work.

This is a 100 level course, and yet I did more work for this class than I've had to do my entire junior year. He assigns at least 100 pages in readings a week, and expects a paper due on them every Friday. On top of that, we had two ethnographies, one was 5 pages, and the other was 12 pages, on top of the 15 pages of notes he expected.

One of the most boring and dull classes I've ever taken in my life. Takes attendance every single day. Avoid this class at all costs.

Not that difficult, but one of the most boring classes I've ever taken in my 4 years at Duquesne. You will not want to come to class at all. And he takes attendance almost every day. The books are boring and dry. He tries to be funny, but is actually rude. Do yourself a favor a find a different sociology class.

I really enjoyed this class! Take notes on everything--powerpoints, videos, books. The tests can be difficult, but he gives you the possible questions ahead of time. He also takes attendance, so if you show up to class that helps your participation grade. I recommend taking this class if it seems interesting to you!

This is the most left winged liberal person I have ever met. He is unorginised, unprepared, and he constantly rambles about nonsense. Worst professor i have ever had! Spare yourself and take someone else, anyone else.

Although Dr. Schneirov wasn't that great of a professor, he was better than Dr. Frisch, who taught in the HN Holocaust SJ Seminar I took last spring. He was fairly knowledgeable about the Holocaust topics we covered, but would constantly interrupt and interject if Dr. Frisch was teaching. He wasn't terrible, but I wouldn't recommend him highly.

I took his class during the summer so I thought it would be hard because of the material densing. He was a great teacher, using multiple methods to get us to understand the material. We had book readings, notes, class discusstions, and movies. I don't know people say he was so boring...maybe he is just in a better mood in the summer.

Very nice professor, willing to help. However, the class itself is not very interesting. Read read read the articles and pieces of literature that are on the syllabus otherwise it seems as though the class is very "jumpy". Tests are faily okay - tricky multiple choice but, he gives essay questions out beforehand.

Painfully boring class. He is very knowledgeable and talks the whole class. I learned very little in the class. He constantly talks about studies and loves to throw out numbers. Very strict grader. Loves to emphasize the fact that he is Jewish. I wouldn't take him again, I didn't get anything out of his class.

This guy was a joke, the class was painfully boring, and the movies on wednesdays were pointless. I would never suggest this class. We never got to do the TEQs, probably because he knew we would get him fired. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!
