Comment:

Do not take her class if you have a social life or don't have $100 to spend on printing fees. No electronic in class meant we printed 100 pages a week that we DIDN'T read. She drones on for hours, yet I could not tell you one thing I learned. We had a 5 page paper due every week on top of useless reading that weren't applicable. She's just a mess.

I highly recommend Prof. Sanford for a COLL class. She is a bizarre lady, but very interesting and very caring. She wants you to gain something from her class, and if you do the readings beforehand and are willing to talk once or twice, she will give you respect. She can be a bit aloof, but grading is easy and she lets you revise. A solid professor

Comment:

Professor Sanford is super sweet and quirky. Her Introduction to African Studies class was small and largely discussion-based. There's a lot of reading but as long as you can participate you'll be fine. She's a very easy grader, but I definitely still learned a lot in her class. Overall, just a really chill class.

She is such a wonderful professor! I definitely recommend taking her class. She isn't always the most lively professors but you can tell that she is very knowledgeable and passionate about what she does. Class was composed of 3 2-page papers and 1 research paper (12-15 pages) Not hard to handle. TAKE THIS COURSE!

I don't know why people are giving her such bad ratings up here. She's a really sweet person, has a lot of enthusiasm for the subject she teaches, and is a fairly easy grader. I took her class for my GER, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Comment:

Mei Mei is a sweet person, and is very passionate about what she is teaching. Sure, she may assign long readings, but they are interesting. She puts in a great deal of effort to make sure that the class is fun and exciting. I look forward to attending every week! Also, she is a fairly easy grader. The class is really close!

She's a nice person and her class seems like it might be somewhat enjoyable at first, but it eventually becomes mindnumbing. Not a good course if you're looking for a broad understanding of African religion. Her class is clearly centered around Nigerian Yoruba religion.

She's very knowledgable about this subject, but the readings are unnecessarily long, which you really don't have to do. She loses your papers or takes forever to grade them. The best thing about her class is that she allows rewrites (if you ever get your paper back) and extensions. I would recommend this class, but not this teacher.

I feel that people are being far too harsh. Mei-Mei is a little odd, but she's incredibly smart and knowledgeable. Some of the reading sucks, but some of it is interesting too. Her assignments are very manageable and she's a pretty easy grader.

She is the worst professor at William and Mary. She knows her stuff but she couldnt tell you about it if she had a gun put to her head. You should run away screaming from her class during registration. Again: DO NOT TAKE!!!!!!!!!!!

In a 2 hour class with her. She seems to discourage class discussion although it's a seminar format. Doesn't listen to what you say; only hones in on key words when you talk. Boring. Spacey. Reading for the course is unnecessary. Not a fun class.

She knows her stuff, but doesn't know how to tell the class. She loves what she does, but you leave her class and you don't get much out of it! Best of luck learning something if you take a class with her!
