So Dr. Redford has all of this knowledge on a ton of psychological and linguistic ideas from her work as a researcher. She knows experts in the field and has done her own experiments and can tell you about important ideas in normal conversation. This is really helpful when you need to know a lot of in depth info about a subject, for projects etc.

Lisa was the worst professor I've taken a class from at UO. The class was full when the term started and more than half the class either dropped the class or switched majors all together. She's helpful outside of class, but her lectures are hard to follow, she goes off on tangents that no one understands. I'm never taking a class from her again.

Melissa Redford is nice, but her teaching is hard to follow. It's an intro class but there are terms she throws around that I had no idea what she's talking about. Her class is 2 hours long and I barely gained anything. She is really frustrating and it's hard to be patient with her. She goes on and on about nothing and expects you to understand.

The WORST professor ever. Stay away. Impossible to understand. Impossible to talk to during office hours cause she cuts you off and starts talking about herself. She makes your life miserable in class by talking about irrelevant complicated things that have nothing to do with the topic or class and just because she wants to destroy your confidence.

Very scattered teacher, probably much better for upper level classes. This class was very difficult, mainly because of the way she jumps around and uses terms that no one knows, then expects them all to be known by the test. Not a ton of outside work though.

Melissa is cool but she sometimes comes off as extremely pretentious and scattered throughout most of her lectures. Unnecessarily complex word choice and heinously boring material made her class painful. Nonetheless, if you even put forth minimal effort you'll be fine in the class.

She's a really cool person, the challenge is to stay awake in her class. Also, if you don't understand jack with a D going into finals, don't give up. Somehow, everyone seems to end up with a B in her class. Just sayin'

A great professor. Really loves her field and is very attentive to her students. Sometimes a bit scattered, but in a brainy professor sort of way. Redford is HYPER intelligent and abstract, but her abstractness is grounded in real-life phenomena. She's fun in class, but makes her students work. Her class was very worthwhile.

Professor Redford was very helpful and always willing to answer my questions. Very nice and happy, and not a bad class to have to start your day with. Tries to tie in language to real life which helps you understand why you're paying $200 a class to be there.
