Comment:

Took his online intro to weather class as a GE and would not recommend taking it if you aren't very interested in weather. His lectures he talks the whole time and is very knowledgeable about weather but has no idea how to teach the topic. He assigns homework each week but doesn't go over how to do it in class.

quinn is super funny, sarcastic, and enthusiastic. loved him. lectures can be boring, but explains everything well and he sets u up for success. 5 or 6 quizzes, one midterm, and one final. extra credit on quizzes and final. few assignments. i studied a lot so class was easy for me. can pass without book n just using powerpoints but book is useful.

He is the best professor I have ever seen. He encourages students to study, and he is very helpful and respectful. I enjoy study with him and I learn more than any other classes. I am a second language student and Im happy to take class with professor Quinn. I read notes that he posted on canvas and so far my quizzes are great.

Comment:

Make sure you read the textbook, study before each test, quizzes are easy. Nothing too crazy must work a little in order to get an A. Quinn is a great professor who helps you with everything he can, caring and easy to talk to. Getting an A is not that hard.

Took it over the summer. He's a very enthusiastic professor, which helps with his very long lectures. Not an easy class, you will have to work hard for a good grade.

Comment:

Professor Quinn appreciates students that show up to lecture, ask questions, and participate in class. He is helpful when you ask and doesn't get frustrated if you aren't grasping a concept. He expects you to at bare minimum skim the text, if you want a better grade you have to truly read it. Lectures are long but helpful.

You will learn in this class, however, you will have to work for your grade. This class is very difficult if you choose not to study or slack off during class. However, if you have issues don't be afraid to ask questions. Study the notes, read the book, and ask questions, otherwise, you will be left behind and the professor will fail you.

Comment:

Mr. Quinn is a great teacher. He is always willing to help students. This is lab class, must attend or you won't understand the labs, its all group work with a midterm and final-both open note. Not an easy class, but Mr. Quinn will answer EVERY question you have to help you out. Geography tutors available and his office hours. I def recommend him!

Quinn is a terrible professor. All he does is read from powerpoint. He doesn't go over quizzes and says to go look for the answers for the ones we got wrong. He is very unorganized and i felt like he was very rude. I don't recommend you take his class, he should be teaching at a University, not community college.

Mr. Quinn gives good lectures with PowerPoint printouts for every lecture. Textbook supplements his powerpoint lectures. Your grade is based on tests, midterm and final. Gives very helpful study guides for every test. He is available every day in office hours and always helps his students. He is among the best teachers at DVC. Highly reccommend him

I ended up dropping the class. We never used the book in class, and only used power points. He's not fond of distributing study guides. He expects for all students to read each unit and commit what we've read to memory with no guidance to specify what would be on the test. When he did supply a study guide, he changed up some of the language.

He knows his stuff and actually thinks the material is exciting. He tries to make class exciting and does sometimes, but for the most part, its death by power point. He's very understanding, like if you miss class or if life happens. If you want to pass, read the lecture notes and a few pages out of the book.

The only extra credit is bonus questions on tests and quizzes. If you have test anxiety, be prepared to be solely graded on tests. Hes bad at explaining things and the lecture material is very dry and uninteresting. Also, he delays giving you review sheets a few weeks in advance so you need to cram to study all the material on his tests.

Mike Quinn is a great guy and cares about the students. Show up for class and learn something. Provides handouts of lectures and helps out students struggling with the labs. Definitely recommend him to others.

Mr. Quinn has unquestionably been one of the /best/ professors I've had at DVC. I came into this class not knowing much about physical geography, but as the semester is coming to an end, I feel that this class has been pleasant, with much credit to Mr. Quinn. Very funny and caring professor and wants you to pass and actually learn geography.

You got an extra point just for turning your lab in the day of, if not you have the whole week to turn it in without being docked off but you will be deducted a point for each week not turned in following that. Some labs easier than others, important to find people to work with. Midterm based off the first half of labs, final based off last half.

Quinn is a really great professor! He's very passionate about geography and he's really funny. His class is a bit difficult and i did struggle a little because its such a dense subject but he's very helpful if you go talk to him and he gives extra credit which helps your grade a lot.

Comment:

Prof. Quinn is a great instructor, he knows his domain and cares a lot about it. It is easy to get and A in his class, tests and quizzes are not hard, he provides word-by-word study guides and lets to use a note sheet. No surprises on test, interesting lectures, a good and caring person. I would definitely recommend taking his class.
