Rabinowitz is the most brilliant professor I have ever had. Her critiques on papers are very thorough and helpful. She works well with you outside of class if you approach her. She is very engaging and the class was very enjoyable.

Comment:
Dr. Rabinowitz is brilliant & engaging. You can't not be interested in her lecturing. She's very direct, but is passionate about her job, field, and students. A self-proclaimed "dilettante," she knows pretty much everything. With a background in American Studies, her knowledge is intimidating, but inspiring. Take anything you can with her!

She's blunt and sometimes raises her voice, but it's only out of excitement. She really loves what she teaches and she is so incredibly knowledgeable. She requires a LOT of reading, but if you keep up, you'll get a lot out of her class.

I am a Senior at the UofM and Prof. Rabinowitz was by far the worst professor I ever had. Her lectures were dull and random - the topics we talked about in class were weird interpretations of the novels we read. Very rude to students and yelled a lot. Don't take her unless it's last resort.

She is by far the rudest professor I have EVER had. She gives students NO respect. Demands answers to questions, but then demeans every student who attempts to answer them. Criticizes questions from curious students. Threw a temper tantrum in the middle of class once for no particular reason. I'm sure she is brilliant, but WAY too disrespectful.

It was a fine class. She, however, is rude and demeaning. It adds nothing to class to call out students/yell at poor responses...yet she does it daily. What a waste of time.

I did not have a good experience with this professor. She was the English chair and this class was an interdepartmental honors course, and the two did not mix well. She was disrespectful and insulting at times. She expected us to write papers with our original ideas, yet it wasn't right unless she thought it was. Papers were impossible.

Paula Rabinowitz, everything aside, is a brilliant professor. She is very knowledgeable about each topic in her course. She is, however, a rather impatient woman, and she often yelled at the class and was very demeaning. I still absolutely loved the class, and she opened my eyes to a lot of things. I would consider taking another course from her.

Worst professor I have ever had. She tries to lead her lectures of over 250 people like a small discussion. Unsurprisingly, it doesn't work, and she gets frustrated and seriously insults her students. I found her extremely disrespectful and don't believe she sees students as people. It's relatively easy, but not worth the cost of tuition...

Comment:
Paula's lectures were fairly boring...She had the TAs do all the grading in Mult.Lit because there was like 250 in the lecture. Her lectures don't relate very much to the papers but I guess I didn't really mind it because I got an "A." If you're going to take her class, make sure you go to the TA often to have him/her check your paper.

Doesn't follow any particular outline to lecture. Talks about whatever pops into her head including current events that may relate to the reading..which usually help you to learn nothing. Easy class as in you don't really have to read or go to class but you do have to know a minimal amount in order to write each of the four papers.

She has a very blunt New York way of talking. It strikes many as rude and offensive (maybe it is). She will ask odd questions and get upset when nobody answers fast enough. She has verbal mannerisms that can through you off. Still, she knows modern American Literature and you can learn from her if your skin is thick.

She made her class seem like we were an inconvienence for us to show up. She's very stuck on herself, and never answers your questions. Also, very hard to get a hold of outside of class.
