Class is a lot of fun. Phil is very entertaining and has a lot of stories about the old days. The music is always challenging. Make sure you take this class the quarter they have a concert scheduled.

Took this as an elective. Phil reminds me of the blue genie from Aladdin. He makes random & strange sounds, and is really goofy. Doesn't teach a whole lot, though. I took this class with absolutely no dictation or sight-singing experience, and still managed to get an A. It takes A LOT of practice, but you can learn loads from your TAs.

Awesome teacher! Really funny, really brilliant! Easiest 2 units earned in college and you only have to seriously show up for the final concert and enough rehearsals for him to know your face. Even still, I go every class because it's a fun class!

Phil is a well-liked teacher and a talented and accomplished singer and actor of sorts. He is not really an accomplished choral conductor and does not really want to be one. The music department uses this class to boost its enrollment figures and that is why Phil is teaching it. Students sing quality music--but there is no discipline involved.
