Not an easy class. You have to work for a good grade. Although he does post his lecture notes a week before the exam (3 total), you should still take notes during class because not everything from the lectures are in the notes. Pay attention, go to class, take notes, and you'll most likely pass.

Awful, I took this class very interested in the topic until I went through one of his lectures and realized he does not actually care about his students grades. He has so many notes it is almost impossible to study a few weeks before one test and receive a good grade. You need to know the information word for word with detail.

He's really exciting and fun to listen to. He even has his own TV show! His lectures aren't mandatory, but occasionally he gives extra points for attending them (which you should because he's entertaining enough and gives most of the test info in his lectures). The labs connected to this class are also super super easy.

I really enjoyed the Climate Change class I took with Dr. Cerveny. It was interesting, compelling and I learned a lot. However, Cerveny was not pleasant. He berated students in class if they came in late. He was short with people when they asked questions. He seemed to dislike his students and was quite rude to many of them. It was really odd.

Attendance isn't mandatory, but exams are in class and you can't use notes. They make up almost all of your grade and he loves to throw in questions that you would only know if you were in class. He gives a study guide and puts up all the lecture slides 1 week before an exam, so as long as you study that you will do fine.

He's a great teacher overall and he makes the subject matter very interesting and pertinent to daily life. His lectures are full of energy and I generally looked forward to them. Don't miss his lectures as they're much more in depth than his notes which get released a week before the test. He's a very fascinating person & I'd take him again.

This class isn't meant to be difficult, and he makes that clear. Just show up to class and you're pretty much guaranteed an A. However, his lectures make it worth attending, and even though there aren't many assignments, they're easy to do well on.

Honestly, some of the most thorough lectures I've seen. However, he doesn't post them online so in order to benefit from them, go to class and take thorough notes. All test material is from lecture info! If you show up to class, he sometimes gives test answers or extra credit! He's pretty funny and tries to keep the class interesting for students

Cerveney is a really great professor. He really cares that his students pass. Go to class and he'll give you answers for the test and extra credit. If you pay attention in class you'll definitely pass. He uploads the powerpoints but it doesnt have the pictures or the additional information he gives.

Requires some effort to get an A. Lab is pretty easy. Lectures can be boring. HE GAVE US 20 QUESTIONS OUT OF 70 THAT WERE ON THE FINAL which was really really helpful

Very tough class. I studied for 2 hours before each test and failed both. Make sure you do the reviews and show up to class. He is VERY knowledgeable on the topic though. 3 stupid hard tests make up 75% of the class. The other 25% is the lab, which is stupid easy. He gives a fair amount of extra credit if you consistently show up to class.

Dr. Cerveny is a highly knowledgeable professor. He is clear, direct, and can seem standoffish, but he really just wants the best for his students. There are three huge tests in this class that are manageable if one studies and attends class regularly. Meteorology is a huge topic covered in this class; Dr. Cerveny is passionate about the weather.

Absolutely love this class! He is passionate about what he teaches, which in turn makes it much more engaging for me as a student. If you come to class, pay attention, and take good notes, you will do fine in this class. If you skip class, you may miss extra credit opportunities and you will NOT do well on the tests.

The whole grade is lab and three tests. It is important to show up to class for notes, because even though he posts them online there are still things he goes over in class that he leaves off! He also gives random extra credit if you're in class. The tests can be tough, be sure to do the study guide and review. Interesting topics covered!

Dr. Cerveny has no "desk-side manner" whatsoever. Very rude and condescending teacher, will give you no time of day unless you're proficient in the subject already. If you study, tests are manageable. But the way he grades ruins it. Will take pts off b/c your answer "just isn't good enough." Doesn't post grades until the semester is over either.

After teaching undergraduate courses in graduate school, I realized that this seniorgraduate level course is equivalent in content to a freshman level course. Colored pencils, connect the dots and NO science makes this series of courses horrible. The final project is busy work and has no real application to modern techniques in the field.

Bring your colored pencils and you pass this seniorgraduate level course! If you can connect the dots you will get an A in the first semester course. Pathetic. You ask questions and get half an answer OR get a really bad look from the prof! He teaches techniques from 1981 and has NOT updated his education on the science since his PhD in 1970.

This course should be taught by a person with CURRENT atmospheric science background. He dumbs this complex course down to freshman levels, and does not prepare students for the real world. If you get through a metorology degree without the use of numerical weather prediction models, you are 10 steps behind the rest of the crowd.

Dr. Cerveny has created a freshman-level course for seniors. He is out of touch with modern techniques, and should NOT be teaching at this level. The pre-reqs are extensive, but you never apply calculus to materials. I have taught a sophmore level "dynamics" course at a different university and it was MUCH more indepth and difficult.

Cerveny is very passionate about physical geography. You can tell from his lectures. There's a lot of material but he tries to include many examples. Only 3 tests and lab material as a grade. Overall, he is very vibrant and is a very smart cookie. Beware: he HATES it when students text, leave early, or show up late. Come prepared to learn.
