Comment:
Modeling is a super hard physics/math course he helps teach. He's not real helpful, though, he moves through the math too quickly and gets off on unrelated tangents that just serve to confuse. Also, he'll give you an assignment before he's taught you everything you need. I'd advise procrastinating them, less frustration.

Nice guy, definitely smart. Has difficulty translating knowledge to students. Count on making a study group for this class.

He was super confusing, he has very high standards and is not sure how to teach the class to get to his very high standards. We took a test and everyone did so badly that he pulled it from the grade book, realizing the even the brightest kids in class had failed it. This class is brutal. Dreaded. Backwards. Good luck.

New class, which made it hard to actually learn from it. Hopefully next year it'll be better. Dr. Crist is not a good teacher, however. Unclear and isn't too helpful.

Course is new, so challenges should be expected. videos for next class put up daily, he procrastinated to put them up, short homework assignments for each class. problems range from 4-10. textbook is somewhat challenging to follow. concepts taught by teacher can be hard to follow. project2, quiz4, cumulative final, no midterm. projectschallenge

Unless you are a math super genius he is hard to understand. He is an intelligent guy but has trouble relating it to you. He has an arrogance about him as well.

Calculus II was somewhat difficult for me but Crist will take the time out to explain the material. This is my 1st college math class and now I want to minor in it because of Crist. He does go off on tangents alot. If you choose to take him, who wont regret it is but prepare to work hard.

AVOID take lily or anyone else. I went from an A to a C+ during the final. Does not prepare you for the final. If you haven't taken calc before you are pretty much screwed. good luck!

Good teacher who makes his tests and homework really difficult. It's not too bad of a class, and he's definitely one of the better teachers in the Math department. I'd recommend him, but prepare to work hard.

It was a really difficult class, but Crist did a really good job trying to make it understandable. The thing that impressed me the most was that he would literally drop everything he was doing to help students with homework. Really into the material, kinda crazy, but overall a great teacher

Hard. But it is also Calc III. A little condescending/intimidating in office hours. Not a horrible teacher, but I bet you could find better.

The subject matter is challenging, but he is willing to help you in whatever way possible. Go see him for help on problem sets. He is so smart that sometimes he goes on mathematical tangents in class which just confused me. Still I learned a lot even if some of the concepts are still a bit above me.

I love Dr. Randall but wouldn't reccommend him if you're just taking this class to fill a credit. Math majors worship him though, he's very intelligent. And good-looking (;

Very smart guy, but if math isn't your passion and calc is just a prerequ for you, I'd advise against him. You'll spend days doing math homework

It is obvious he is a very intelligent man when it comes to mathematics. He teaches in terms of proofs of key concepts and examples which I found to be extremely useful in completing the homework. He is very helpful during office hours for homework or general questions. Tests are difficult but if you do the work you'll be fine.

HARD CLASS! It might not be that hard if you had a good calc teacher in hs, but all I took was pre-calc. The book is confusing, and altho he gives you tons of info in his lectures, it's so much that I just get lost! Write all that you know down on the tests, bc partial credit is given. It is possible to get an A, but if u get a B be VERY happy!

I went to every class, took all the notes, and it was my worst grade. Not a good teacher at ALL, impossible and almost worthless to try and follow. I do not recommend unless you already know calculus!!!

He's kind of difficult but writes all of the notes you need on the board. He also gives one or two short quizzes per week on the homework. Take the notes, do the homework, and pay attention and you should be fine.

Don't take this class unless you've taken calc before. Expect a quiz everyday. The math tutors will be your best friends the semester you take this course. If you are a slow test taker, then his tests are somewhat long. He's awfully smart, but cannot exactly convey the material to his students. I recommend taking somebody else.
