I had him a few semesters ago. The class was fairly basic. Daily lectures and then discussion. He calls on random students. I struggled a lot in the beginning because I never read the textbook but once I did the class was fairly easy. So I recommend actually reading the textbook if you don't understand otherwise you'll be lost.

Gorton is a good professor, very knowledgeable. I was struggling in his class so I went to his office hours and he really really helped me. Just participate and go over the material with him. about 7 homework assignments 2 midterms and a final if im not mistaken.

Professor Gorton is nice and funny guy. His class is very straight forward. If you miss just one class, you lose track of what's going on. The material is hard to understand. The grades on based on four homework assignments, a midterm and final. He's a tough grades and wants exact answers. The SI sessions were better to understand, so go to them.

This semester, as classes have all been switched to online due to COVID-19, his class still remained extremely hard. I found the class to be more stressful and overwhelming. He also wasn't a lot of help during this time, and if anything made me more depressed. I am not considering taking this course again but with a different professor.

okay.. at first I did not like Gorton. He seemed weird and and confusing and crazy but when that first came back and I got a B+ I realized he is a DAMN good teacher. He tells a lot of weird stories and weird examples but they work ! they stick in your brain! So do yourself a favor and take Gorton.

Prof. Gorton is a good teacher. He kinda goes on tangents but is very clear in his explanations and lectures. I recommend going to the SI sessions. Tough grader, very picky. Picks on students to make a funny metaphor in order for students to better grasp the information. Do the readings! All the Hw is reading. Youll get lost if you dont read.

Gorton takes role every day! The textbook is a must, super helpful! read and take ur time on all 4 homework and you'll pass. Use the practice problems from the textbook and the answer key he provides. Honestly how do people expect to pass if they don't try or show up lol.

He tries to make the class enjoyable + breaks down definitions into more simpler terms. When doing his homework, work with the book + compare problems with the examples. Also, he doesn't hesitate in answering any questions. He really likes to put similar answers in order during tests, so don't overthink if you get answers in a row.

I took the "Clear Thinking" class and was never more confused in my life... Professor Gorton is comical, but the content is just dry and confusing. I tried to access him outside of class, but he set up office hours directly before my class started and wasn't in his office four of the five times I went to see him because he was prepping for class.

Professor Gorton is a really great professor. If you don't get the topic he most definitely tries to explain it better. I found the textbook useful. The study guides are what is going to be on the midterm and final. Also very funny. I recommend you take him. Lectures help a lot.

This class had was the most difficult class I had this quarter, and I believe its because the book makes everything confusing. Prof. Gorton is really good at explaining the content, but his handwriting is difficult to read at times. His study guides are exact replicas to the exams. Other than that, its a pretty solid class. Difficult, but solid.

Need to go to class or else you'll get behind. Typically you write notes, towards the end of class he'll randomly call on students to answer questions from the textbook. You're graded on 4 HWs (each 1-10pts), Midterm (1-10 points x2), and Final (1-10 points x 4). Miss more than 2 classes you lose points. If you need help go to his office hours.

His lectures are clear and straight to the point, lots of examples and easy to follow along with the book. Very organized and willing to clarify and answer questions. There are 4 HWs, 1 Midterm, 1 Final and your grade will be the average of those. Be prepared to be called on in class, he loves to involve students. Easy class, definitely take him!

if your taking this class and struggle in writing, I recommend you seek help from a tutoring service such as SCAA and Project Impact that can help you pass this class. Using the tutoring service helped me pass. There is homework every week and a final exam at the end of the week.

read that he was a good teacher so I decided to take the class. didn't really enjoy him from the first day but thought I'd give it a chance. Lectures are all over the place & you can't read his handwriting so it's hard to take notes. he seems to ramble on A LOT.

After reading his reviews, I was honestly scared to take Gorton, but this class wasn't bad at all, I never even read the book and I would get A's on the hw and exams. He's a good prof, you do have to work for it though, but it's not that hard to get an A. Don't miss class, otherwise you'll miss a lot of material. Easy class if you put in the work.
