Comment:

Honestly this was one of my favorite classes and I never plan to do anything with journalism. He was caring and you could really tell how much he was trying with zoom and technology. The class is super easy if you pay attention and give your best effort, he can tell if you're trying and gives extra points for participation. 100/10 would take again.

Don't take him. Yes, he has a good sense of humor, but he gets annoyed if you want to meet him after class. One time I went to see him during office hours and he insulted me for not asking him the question during class and told me he would not answer my question and that I should ask someone from my class.

I cannot say enough about him both as an instructor & person! Time flew by in ENG 214 as he kept us on our toes & laughing out loud. He certainly has a unique way of getting information to stick! Very kind & caring person under his sarcastic exterior. Truly cares about his students & wants us to succeed. He has been an absolute blessing in my life.

He makes jokes all class to try and be funny but in times seems condescending. Participation is how he determines your grade should look and is up to him at the end of the semester due to him not posting grades online. Often talks over and argues students who do try and participate making them less likely to want to speak.

The best professor I have ever had at N.C. State! If you participate in class, he will like you and that will be reflected in your grade. He will make you get out of your comfort zone by interviewing people you don't know. You'll want to do well on your work, because he is such a great professor!

He is hands down the best professor I have had at NC State. He takes a subject such as editing, with the potential to be so dry, and makes every class enjoyable. He has a dry sarcastic sense of humor which I find hilarious. He truly cares about his students and he wants you to succeed. He is the reason I decided to minor in journalism.

Mr. C was great! He notices if you're trying and that's honestly all he wants. If you do all the homework and participate in class, you'll do well. I'm taking him again next semester, I was going to miss him!

Love this guy - so funny and so helpful! This was a journalism class and he has high standards which made me a better writer. The kind of professor that teaches you things you'll use long after the class! He was highly recommended to me, every student who knows him loves him!

Rod is easily one of my favorite professors at NC State. I took his newspaper class, and he expects only the best from his students. His assignments--like interviewing strangers off the street--make you get out of your comfort zone. Can be fun and serious within moments. Cares about his students. Does NOT tolerate tardiness. My favorite professor at State. PARTICIPATE IN CLASS. My participation brought my grade up drastically (maybe he curves, though). My test average was something like a 71, but I got an A in the class. It's cool because he was an editor, so it's first-hand knowledge. He's got a sarcastic humor, and he'll call you out for dumb comments, but I thoroughly enjoyed this class.
