professor Carney is too old school to teach, plain and simple. she doesn't use d2l, email, and does not take notes. its basically impossible to talk to her outside of class. you only have 4 tests, and they are stupid hard, and most questions have nothing to do with our criteria! DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!

Comment:

Professor Carney is very old school and all about lecturing. You will lecture everyday unless its test day, and most notes you have to write them down as they come out her mouth rapidly. The amount of info to retain each day with her is unreasonable with her method. Must do your essays or you will fail, and be prepared for 100 question tests.

Get ready to sit for more than an hour and not retain any of it. Also, dont try to leave early or she will snap. Like im talking seconds before she lets you out. Act like youre in high school in that class because thats how youll be treated.

By far the worst professor I ever had.. I had a incident occur where I got locked out of my house and I left my car keys inside and by the time I got to school I explained the situation to her and she laughed and said do better.. needless to say she isnt a easy going person and the lectures are boring and dull.. mostly everyone failed the class

Her grading is off the wall and makes no sense. You get lectured everyday and there is no change in what you do. You tend to learn 2 to almost 3 times as much stuff between quizzes as other classes

Professor Carney is a classic 'lecture heavy' professor. Attendance is mandatory and no electronics are allowed in the classroom. So good luck on taking notes because she literally stands at the podium and does not stop talking until the time is up. The test are very difficult but she has her own grading system that helps the student out.

If you aren't interested in Government this isn't the class for you... Definitely the hardest class I've ever taken. Mrs. Carney is a VERY traditional professor, so if you're a visual learner like me, you'll probably fail. Lectured every day of class the entire period, and had 2 tests and the final. My entire class struggled and I ended up failing.

Tough professor. As long as you show effort, she will not hate you. Make sure you do the readings that she says! Doesn't do notes, just lectures all hour. So hopefully you take great notes because you will need them!

She didn't use visual aids or much presentation, but she did simplify what she taught in class which didn't help on the test, because they are CRAZY hard. She made it easy to understand but the wording on her tests are not what she taught. TESTS WAY TOO HARD.

If you enjoy government then you may like this class. As for me and many of the other students I know in the class, WE STRUGGLED. No homework. Just 1 paper and 3 tests. Tests very hard, she does curve however. She lectures entire class with no visuals or power points. Depends on how you learn best, I need to be engaged especially with politics..

She is super smart but was too smart for me. Her vocabulary is super advanced and her tests are monsters. If you hate studying, DO NOT TAKE HER. Very hard professor but I learned bunches.

She is a nice person. But, as a government teacher I found her to be slightly unprincipled and inconsistent. She once implied that a student was a member of an occult due to holding consistent constitutional principles and by refusing to be pragmatic.

She's very smart and I'm sure she knows her stuff, but her lectures are either very boring or very hard to follow. She's not very good about responding to emails, so just ask her stuff in person. STUDY FOR THOSE TESTS! DO THOSE "BUFFER POINTS"!!!

DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!!!! She is horrible. she only gives 3 tests and one paper. Half of the questions she never teaches. When I tried to contact her I never got an answer. She laughed in my face when I asked about notes after I had been sick for a week. SHE WAS SO RUDE AND SHE IS THE WORST TEACHER EVER!

Took gov with her, at 8 am I woke every Tuesday and Thursday to a lecture for an hour and fifteen nets nonstop. Her way of teaching is un helpful, and very un interesting.

Terrible professor. If you do not have an interest in government you will never have an interest because her teaching style is out of date. All she does is lecture. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS IN THE AM...you will go to sleep!
