Comment:
Does not grade based on how competent you are on a subject but rather on how well you show work to her liking. To give an idea, she takes off points if you fail to show how you got from milliliters to liters. Don't get this teacher if you are an independent thinker.

Incredibly tough grader. There were tests/ quizzes where all of my answers would be correct but my methods weren't satisfactory by her standards and I would be given only partial credit for an answer and end up with a 75% or so on a quiz with all correct answers.

Prof. Lin is one of the most difficult and worst professors I have ever encountered. Prof is extremely out of tune with Midshipmen life and does not understand many of the other commitments mids have. Expect extremely difficult weekly lab and chapter quizzes. She is extremely particular about significant figures on your quizzes and labs as well.

Knows her stuff. Great at explaining things. Fast quizzes. Cares about work and Sig Figs. An A is more than attainable if you do not blow this class off. Just do the labs and you'll be fine on that criteria. Actually look over naval applications. Works with Excel and is huge on details.

Get ready for quick quizzes. The course moves fast but she is willing to meet for EI when you need it. Huge on sig figs and notation. Makes you show work.

Lectures move really really quickly. She's really strict about timing quizzes, so I always feel like I'm rushing through them. Expect LOTS of quizzes (I'm talking two/week). If you do the OWL and the labs, though, you'll be fine. Also, she gives extra credit which is pretty rare at usna.

Rushes through lectures with little time to ask questions. Feels like EI is mandatory. EI is used as an extension of class teaching instead of as a time for learning or making up instruction you may not understand. Quizzes are extremely hard and grades them very hard.

Comment:
Professor Lin is a very smart lady, but her expectations for plebe chemistry are too high. Her grading criteria is very nitty- gritty (for example I got all the answers right but didnt do the work the way she wanted so I only got a 70 on a quiz). She moves very quickly in class. One good thing is she appreciates effort and communication.

Comment:
Professor Lin is extremely knowledgeable about Chemistry, but her lectures can get to be a lot when all you do is try to follow her on the provided note outline. Expect a lot of OWL assignments. Very tough grader, you will have to solve problems how she wants or points will be taken off.

She undermines your intelligence and makes you hesitant to ask questions. She rushed class lectures and didn't leave much time for questions. She is a hard test grader, one small mistake and you get the whole problem wrong. Do not recommend for new students.

Lin is a great teacher, always has organized notes that you can take in class and are very useful when studying for tests and quizzes. She gives quizzes at the end of every chapter and on some labs. She is a tough teacher and her class is a challenge. Doesn't let you sleep or get distracted on your laptop. Passive-aggressive. Tough grader very toug

She's very strict with the classroom and with her grading. She'll make sure you're awake, and not distracted with your computer out. Also, quizzes and tests are pretty difficult. Always available for extra help, but you'll need to go to that a lot. Class takes a lot of work.

Very well organized and presents the material in a clear manner. Has students work out problems on the board in class which is really helpful in learning the material. Really makes an effort to make sure students understand what's going on rather than just memorizing facts.

Very smart, very fair grading policies, and helpful suggestions for learning the material. EI is money, she is always willing to take the extra time and help you figure out problems. Knows her subject down cold, so you can expect to get clear, concise explanations about concepts. Great professor, makes Organic more fun than it would normally be.

When they say this is a weed-out class, they means she weeds you out. While often available for EI, it does nothing for you. She's particular, but good for lab classes, not so much for lecture. More than half our section dropped the course. Try to get Fitzgerald or Urban instead. She types notes for you, but tests & quizzes are insanely difficult.
