Made me change my major. I thought I could suck it up and continue as a planning major, but this guy made me want to shoot myself. No visuals, just sits and reads FROM A NOVEL (art & zen) and drones on about how this generation is the worst. Learned absolutely nothing from this class and I consider my self a good student. This class was impossible

Took Urbain Design II class from Orlick. My expectations were not high coming in but I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this class. He can be dry at times but topics are interesting and he provides great visual (he loves his old school slides). You need to know how to write! Don't be afraid to ask questions

ugh. he is the most difficult, inconsistent, confusing man i've ever met. he thinks that roundabout vague statements are going to make us think hard about the valuable lessons he's trying to impart, but they make me want to SCREAM. nice guy though. just severely stuck in his crotchety ways of planning years past.

All you have to do is be interested, know how to write, and be able to understand his sarcasm and the classes he teaches will be fun and interesting. everyone who has rated him poorly is either not interested in planning, or doesn't know how to properly use the english language when writing. He is the reason I have a good job with full benefits!

I think Steve is a great teacher! The concepts may be hard to understand at times, but he is more than willing to help! He is the only university teacher I know that allows students to keep re-writing papers and tests to get a better grade. He has dedicated all his time to helping his students! He is amazing!! Thanks for everything steve!!!

I really enjoyed his class. The assignments were well paced and planned. He covered the challenges of planning with a calm approach and humor.

He uses humiliation to try and get students to do better in class. When handing tests back he holds them up for the whole class to see the grade. He is somewhat bitter and not a good leader. As department head of the ENSP dept. he should be helping students rather than making them upset. Planning Workshop class should be cancelled.

This teacher uses his class as his own podium for his view and has no practical experience, he will give you a bad grade if you chalenge him. He is a poster child for reviewing tenured positions. Don't let him bring you down with his elitist views and arrogant personality anyone who has lived or worked outside of academia will see through his vail

An unenspired teacher who never brings anything to the classroom except his own personal brand of bile. He has pioneered his own way of making sure his job is never challenging. As head of department, he is part of the reason Environmentalism may be considered dead. Avoid at any cost.

EIR: a difficult class, but useful if you take any upper-division ENSP courses. Pay attention to the CEQA and NEPA text and the codified material. I'll never look at a Sprawlmart the same again! Down with Prop. 13 and Big Box Retailers! Yeah, I paid attention in class, see I wasn't sleeping, only pretending.
