Made us listen to a lot of podcasts about Cuba and it's history, and it was such an interesting way about learning the topic. Had to read one book and write a paper on it (5 pages, 2.0 spaced). Gives you a topic for the semester for presentation based off a list of podcasts he gives you and then a final paper. Super easy quizzes based off podcasts.

Good professor but my goodness a so much work. Two 6 page papers, presentation, one mandatory out of class meeting if you don't go it'll count as a class absence. Thank goodness for covid or we would've had to bend over all semester for a good grade. To recap, good professor but forgets this class is an elective not a Zicklin business course.

Professor Henken is a very passionate professor and I admired that aspect of him. He def tried to engage us and tell us stories from his experiences but he does talk alot and goes off-topic sometimes. You HAVE to read the textbook do well. This class is an easy A only if you do all the readings with the textbook and books that he assigns.

A lot of reading, so be cautious of that but otherwise a really good professor just be sure to pay attention. Gives lots of extra credit opportunities!!

Great professor to have as a first-year student. My favorite in Baruch so far in my short time here. As long as you listen to his lecture and take notes you should be fine for exams

A lot of extra credit opportunities. Two books to read and short and easy quiz on those books. Mid-term and the final are both 75 questions that are super easy as long as you study from the book, especially the key terms! Great professor!!

He is adorable! He tries his best to make class interesting, and he tries to slide in a few dad jokes now and then haha. This class is an easy A... if you read the textbook! That's the ONLY way you'll do well here. The midterm and the final replicate the textbook. There is one ethnographic paper where you have to go to a mosque to interview Muslims

I took Entrepreneurial Cuba, which I thought would be an interesting topic to learn about. I feel like too much time was spent on the history of Cubas economy and politics rather than teaching us about current entrepreneurship in Cuba. He also assigns a pretty ridiculous amount of reading every class. Definitely ruined my GPA, oops.

Professor Henken made Sociology so interesting the class time flew by. He makes you read two books on top of the textbook chapters, so you have to work for the A but he's a fair grader. Would definitely take another one of his classes!!

Professor Henken has a great personality, he is funny and passionate HOWEVER he is NOT an easy class. This class, which is supposed to be a basic sociology class had an enormous amount of work, lengthy papers which had multiple parts to it, and 2 70 question exams which he does not prepare you for at all. The exams are all from the textbook.

Avoid this class if you have a good GPA. He is a tough grader and gives a test with 70 Short Answer Questions. Class is not impossible to pass, but relatively impossible to pass with a high grade. He gives lengthy lectures and doesn't give test reviews with the final exam being the exception. Informative, class, but the professor is a joke.

Ted is actually the best professor because he took the responses or reactions from students of diverse nations or cultures as natural throwing up, NOT as offensive. Though I got A, he made me work for A. Contents are moderate, just understand the materials and do all the works. He is sensitive about typos in Review Paper (30%)-be cautious about it.

Overall.... Prof Henken is a very knowledgeable and great professor. He knows what he's teaching, and very clear.. However, he is a strict with grades and very straightforward. Don't forget to take down his lectures because every words he say will be on an exam.

Prof. Henken is very knowledgable. He really knows what is he talking about. Lectures are very interesting, but his exams are very difficult. 2 papers: research paper and critical analysis of a supplementary book, 1 midterm and 1 final.

Comment:
Henken is overrated. He painfully tries to do too much and often falls short. He assigns an unnecessary high volume of course work that he's unable to grade and return in a timely manner. He misses a lot of classes and doesn't adhere well to deadlines. He's extremely long-winded and can be very boring. His saving grace is his sincerity.
