Brinkman brings in other discilplines into the lesson adding to the interest. He is incredibly smart in a great number of areas and a HUGE asset to the core curriculum of UST. I learned a new appreciation for the Bible along with its underlying architecture. He's an old-school Prof. and a great wealth of information.

Of the few that were left when the class ended, I think I was the only one to get an A. He curves the final, which is the only exam you will have, so the difficulty of this class lays on the 6 papers that will seem incomprehensible unless you ask for hints or do some research. There was last I was involved a push towards a more holistic approach to anthropology, cultural anthropology was on the forefront of the new thinking. He is very rude and condesceding which is confusing because he is a reverend. Isn't he supposed to be nice and helpful? Very hard grader, I really don't understand what he wants out of the students' work. And the topics for essays are so out of this world and irrelevant to anyone's life. So rude. I wish he was nice.

this is just consolation for the bad experience i had in the class. I thought I had the class figured out in the first two papers but was dead wrong. Dry wit cutting at times comments on papers dont really help just makes you feel dumb for writing the way you did

I paid $1600 for a teacher that is insulting, condesending and sarcastic. None of which are conducive to learning. There is nothing you can do right in his class. I say don't take the class under any circumstances.

He's different from any other. Has a unique perspective of the bible. He wants you to learn how to write in a different manner, his way basically. Not recommended unles you really have to. You won't totally die.
